Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Give this place a miss and keep on driving, Lady who took order was a pretentious smart alec who can’t even take a coffee order and get it right. Coffees were cold , bland, and sugars forgotten. She really needs to listen more attentively when...taking orders. Service was very sub standard, left standing at the counter and wondering was the place even open. Very overpriced and food was definitely not fresh.. Winchelsea a more better option for a stop, great service and good coffeeMore

The ambiance was okay but my food was not. My hamburger arrived cold and dry., so dry that I choked on it. It is the worst hamburger I've ever had. By contrast my friend ordered a ploughmans lunch and loved it. The reason we travelled...75 miles from home was because of a tv program advertising the pies as being just the best. Unfortunately the program was a rerun and The Store no longer had pies on the menu.More

What a find!!! Amazing food and relaxed, friendly vibe. We ate a late night pizza which was seriously good. Dog friendly outside area and super friendly staff. Take home meals from the freezer are cooked on the premises and they are amazing. We went back...to buy more coq au vin because we loved it so much and we have taken home more meals to try. Local produce and household goods are worth a browse in the store. Warning - do not try any of their slices - and in particular the Anzac caramel slice - you will be going back again and again. Soooooo good! Would make a detour if you have to to pass by this gorgeous General Store. 💙More

Took inland route down to Lorne & needed caffeine stop. The Store looked very inviting. As Melbourne in lockdown, had to flash “regional” licence prior to ordering. Coffee and milkshakes to go. All very good. Will return sometime for a sit down brekky.

Up for sale! Quality little cafe in deans marsh. We stayed down this way for a week and visited every day, excellent food and great coffee. Staff were nice but way to paranoid about face masks to the point of being rude. Pork and fennel...sausage roll a must.More

This is the place to stop at on your way to the Great Ocean Road or simply when you are in the area. The owners and staff couldnt be more friendly and helpful, the food is lovely with a good range for a small cafe...(try the pulled pork or steak sandwich, or one of the yummie salads), and the pot of tea and iced coffee we had after lunch were perfect too. In response to one of the previous, there is nothing amiss or wrong here; have never experienced anything other than friendliness from all the staff.More

Tried this place a few times as we live nearby. Unfortunately after several attempts to have an enjoyable coffee I have given up. Not a friendly word from the owners or staff. Would understand it if the coffee was good and they were busy. But...its quiet and there's something seriously amiss here.More

My wife and I were staying in dog friendly accommodation just out of Deans Marsh. We strolled into the Store each morning which has an outside area where we could take our dogs. The coffee and food were excellent and the staff very friendly. Loved...it.More

Had the day off so took a drive from home on the Bellarine peninsula. First impression was a rude unwelcoming English woman with no customer service skills. Typical annoying tree-changer from “the mother land” with a grudge and self-perceived sense of superiority. Umm no, sorry...love! Sausage roll was terrible, like a stick of kabana wrapped in pastry. Chunky beef pie grey in colour but tasty. Anzac caramel slice was yummo. Drinks fridge in a crap location, have to lose your spot in line as things “need to be scanned”. Looks as quaint as a country tuck shop but ran like a servo on the freeway. We won’t be back.More

We stopped by The Store on way to the 12 Apostles when getting off the Great Ocean Road via Colac. It is a nice quaint grocery store and cafe on Deans Marsh Road. We ordered meat pies and salad which were delicious. The Store is...air conditioned and they sell chutneys and pickles, as well as kitchenware. It is a great transit point and highly recommended.More

This place could be really lovely, but today the tables had not been cleaned or wiped down and food scraps scattered the floor. It destroyed the treat of an afternoon tea on a dull coastal day.
