We've recently discovered this unlikely looking restaurant and it has become a firm favourite. Today we had scrambled egg with smoked salmon and the veggie breakfast (rosemary potatoes, spinach, mushroom, fried egg and toast - absolutely fresh and yummy). Service is always friendly and efficient and the whole experience is to be recommended.

Whenever I am in Waterford I always go to Hook & Ladder for my coffee and fabulous cakes. They also do fab sandwiches from Cajun chicken, to BLT's etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful at all times. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

I loved the food, the atmosphere and the decor. The food was great, couldn't be beaten and the price was decent. It was slightly let down by the waiter, who couldn't seem to quite understand part of the order (I would like to have no x and substitute it for y). And then forgot other things from one dish (not... Myself and three colleagues who are regulars in this store felt like we had to write a review after our latest experience! There has been a big shift from till service to table service, and my god has it made it better! My only problem ever with this place was having to wait to pay/order and then sometimes not having... Oh so disappointed with the changes. I loved this place. Husband and I would go at least once a week. The reason we loved it so much was the casual feel, no messing around, go straight to counter, order and pay. Food always fab and fast. Now it's changed to wait to be seated and table service. Went today and... More

Progress is not always good. Would go regularly for breakfast. My favorite was the porridge with lovely strawberries and blueberries. I used to pay € 5 approximately for tea and porridge. Today visited to see the new system which has been put in place, table service and a new menu. Porridge now €4.95 with bananas a much cheaper alternative to... More

Had a really enjoyable night at this cookery school on 10th May. The chef and instructor Paul Power was encouraging and a great teacher. The menu was simple and transferred very well to being reproduced at home. It was also lighthearted and great fun. Would highly recommend these courses to anyone interested in cooking. No great skill required.

I love this place, but they have changed it to host seating. I preferred the casual previous way it was. More cosy and personal. Miss the chats at the counter with the folks that work there and a chance encounter with fellow diners. Also if you wanted to seat in a specific area it was your choice. Like any other... More

Went today and had the haloumi bruchetta. Gourmet to say the least, the flavours of all the vegetables, the presentation. I would highly recommend this 5 star quality. The staff were so friendly as well. Going back next week to try their crab & prawn on their homemade honey bread.

Description
The idea behind cafehome is to showcase a number of various store concepts under the one brand, with each individual concept retaining its own individual ethos and style. The first of these concepts is Hook & Ladder, where we’ve created a unique atmosphere with expertly trained staff, showcasing a broad range of Irish artisan foods, plus a range of furniture and accessories. One truly unique aspect to Hook & Ladder is that all the café fittings – from the cutlery & crockery, to the seats you sit on – are available for purchase.
