During a visit to Waterford we stayed at a nearby hotel and passed the river cottage one the way into the city. We decided on the way back to the hotel to stop in for lunch. The food was well presented, and very tasty. The service was fast and efficient. This restaurant was very busy and had a great atmosphere.

Unfortunately what appeared to be a vegetarian main was made with chicken stock (risotto). Gluten free bread available on request. Vegetarian diners can order a tasty goats cheese salad or beetroot with candied walnuts. Just a shame there isn't a better selection of hot veggie food. I've eaten here a couple of times and apparently the fish and meat mains... More

They may have changed the name and given it a snazzy grey paint job, but River Cottage Knockboy has retained a smile of a welcome, good food, good service, and is as cosy as it ever way. The changes have been good for this restaurant. We dined with friends, and the menu choices were good, the Beef Stew was splendid... More

We were staying in the Lodges at Waterford Castle and found eating at the castle too expensive although you got what you paid for. We found this restaurant/pub just by chance. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The staff were all Irish so you had a bit of craic and also got what you ordered unlike up the road.... More

Have been here on a number of occasions with family and friends who live nearby. Food has always been excellent, have had lamb and fish on our visits. It's a very airy, comfortable restaurant and the staff are welcoming and extremely attentive. Hats off to the maitre d a lady who is the essence of hospitality and always attentive. Would... More

Visited here with friends. Has been refurbished since last here and have to say it is very nice. Upstairs is a private function area with bar ideal for large gatherings. Food always good here and staff pleasant and service very good. Bernie manager here always has a smile and will endeavour to cater for all your requests, a gem. Recommended.

We visited this place before with friends for party upstairs and also as a couple beside today's business lunch - I didn't hear real complaints, except for the upstairs strange seating arrangements. Downstairs the seating is good also if you want to have a chat. The service is pleasant and efficient and the food is fresh and good. The chips... More

Had a lovely extended lunch with my mother recently. Opted for the lighter lunch option of calamari for me and fresh seafood fishcake for my mum. Both delicious, we enjoyed the wines recommended by the head waiter and when we asked for a cheeseboard, although not on the menu, we were offered a delicious selection, beautifully presented, well worth a... Went for Sunday lunch today and ordered thai chicken curry - when it arrived I thought it was a bowl of soup as thats what it looked like with four or five bits of chicken in the end of the bowl - had to put my scoop of rice into it to make it look like I was eating something.... More
