Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I really wanted some good lobster whilst in Killarney and foleys didn’t let me down. Had a fabulous lobster Thermidor. The service was great and nice ambiance too as they put the large golfing groups in the other side from the couples. Nice touch!

Stayed one night at the Guest house. Location was right on the main street in Killarney, but we did not incur a problem with noise. It was a very convenient location. Room was clean, but bathroom in our room was not updated. Breakfast was good...and the restaurant area was quite nice.More

The accommodations were old school lovely but what really made our stay special was the wonderful staff who sat us each night by the fire with good food and good wine and who welcomed us each morning with friendly smiles and a delicious breakfast. We...loved our stay at the Foley House and whole-heartedly recommend it as a comfortable, affordable and enjoyable stay in Killarney.More

Normally I don’t write the cons of hotels if they are small things that we can overlook. But this stay-it just was too many to ignore. We were booked in double room with breakfast. The hotel has old antique feel. Our room was very small...with heavy ornate wardrobe, two old chairs with torn upholstery and very large marble dresser. I would highly suggest removing such large old pieces of furniture so there is more room in these small rooms. The bathroom was always damp-as there were no exhaust fans and even hairbrushes, makeup bags etc were damp all day. There was mold on tiles because it never dries. The people were lovely, but the rooms were definitely in need of renovations and updating. The pillows were all flat and lumpy. The breakfast was great. I will say that and the location wonderful. I wish I would have stayed at an actual hotel for some better updates amenitiesMore

Cosy homely environment. Excellent food, all courses were excellent. My friend felt his steak was the best ever, my sole Veronique was superb. Lovely efficient staff. We got to meet the chef Carol, because we wanted to tell her personally how good the whole meal...was. We will return.More

My friend and I stayed here one night on a road trip through Ireland and it was the perfect place to stay in Killarney. Our room was very comfortable and had AC which I appreciated since it was a particularly muggy day in July. We...had a lovely dinner at the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed breakfast here in the morning again. My friend and I also loved that there is the private gated parking lot behind here and that it's right off the high street that is full of shops and pubs. Definitely the perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy Killarney nightlife.More

My wife and I had a great 'surf and turf' dinner combination on a Sunday night. At Foley's, you walk into the restaurant through the small front bar, and we were seated at a table at the front of the dining room. The room is...of the dark wood and tables variety and has (for Americans) a sort of old time steakhouse look and feel. We were seated promptly, and the service throughout maintained a nice flow. My wife ordered a half bottle of a Spanish red table wine that she enjoyed, while I stuck to sparkling water. We chose the mussels as an appetizer, and they arrived promptly in a nice cream based sauce with white wine and shallots. The restaurant conveniently provides an extra large napkin, bowl for the shells, and semi-hot lemon water for cleaning up afterward. The mussels portion was quite large - definitely somewhat more than for just the two of us, and the mussels themselves were cooked just right - easy to get out of the shell but with a bit of a bite to them. We enjoyed them - and I made certain there were no left overs. My wife ordered the filet, medium rare, with garlic butter, while I had the chefs fresh fish selection, which was five different types of poached/grilled seafood, which was served in a white wine, dijon mustard and dill sauce. Both were excellent. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and very tender. While filets are sometimes not the most flavorful steak, this was well seasoned and the garlic butter a great accompaniment. It was also very large - my wife made it only through about half of it before I lent a helping hand, and even then we didn't entirely finish it off. My seafood was excellent, with slightly different preparations, and in each the flavor of the fish shone through - the sauce was a nice complement but not overwhelming. It was also a large sampling, but I managed to finish it off. The main dishes were accompanied by potatoes, vegetables, and bread. One of the things I appreciated is the bread is served with butter in an actual butter dish and not the rock hard slivers in cellophane wrappers. It was also quite good, as were the vegetables, which included crisp tender carrots, sugar snap peas, and broccoli. All in all, a great meal - we had no room for dessert. As noted, the service was stellar - of the 'there when you need them' but away when not. All told, between the wine, appetizer, main dish the bill was about $95 Euros, which I found to be a fair price for a most excellent dining experience.More
