I recently went here for a work Xmas lunch. I had a fishcake starter, which was OK and salmon for main, which was very ordinary, all for €24. The portion size of the main course was tiny, it consisted of 3 baby potatoes cut in half, and shredded carrots and a small fillet of salmon. I was still starving after... More

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry that you felt you did not get value for money for your Christmas lunch even though I am happy to say that our set menu prices at Christmas for lunch and dinner were among the best in the city! I am also disappointed that you did not bring this to our attention... More

We chose The Gables for our girlie festive get together as it was conveniently situated for the three of us coming from different directions. It was a busy Sunday in Foxrock that day as Santa had arrived and the resturant bar area was busy with passers-by looking to warm up. We had a table booked for 5.30 an early dinner... More

I recently attended this restaurant for an Xmas team lunch. Starter was carrot and coriander which was decent enough. For main I ordered steak "medium well" and it came out well done and just thrown in the middle of the plate with 2 very shriveled up mushroom caps and a tiny portion of fried onion, the presentation was appalling for... Dear Jason. We are all working really hard at The Gables to keep our service and food quality at the highest level so I was extremely disappointed to read your comments. Your groups experience should not have been below standard, being busy is no excuse. However, I was also disappointed that you didn't bring the matter to our attention as... More

Not easy to get parked nearby but if you do then lunch in this little spot is very nice. It is popular for morning coffee so there is a busy atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed the beetroot and goats cheese salad. Nice staff who were attentive without being in any way intrusive. Would recommend reserving a table but ask to be far... More

Thank you for your kind comments. We do have eleven private parking spaces of our own but there is a new car park being currently built right beside us and it will be ready at the end of January so that will solve the overall village parking problem. Jim McCabe More

Great versatile menu with lots of choice. I had the french toast which was presented nicely and yummy. My husband had the full irish. Really good coffee too. Felt how they serve the tea was too big and inconvenient on a table for two. 1 euro for one slice of bacon is a little steep, would expect two slices in... More

The building is lovely, it used to belong to Findlaters, the famous wine merchants. If you can get banquette seating it is very comfortable and they provide newspapers to read at the weekend. The other tables are small and because of the hard floor it gets very noisy when full. Be warned the lavatories are for both sexes - it... More

Atmosphere was excellent. I had the fish and chips, the batter on the fish was only surpassed by the peas that accompanied it. Great staff, manager was welcoming and attentive.

Had been here before and enjoyed it so decided to try it again. The staff were very friendly and pleasant . Food was presented well but it wasn't as nice as the last time that I was there. Hello Anne. Thank you for your kind comments about our staff and the presentation of our food. We have 11 private parking spaces and there is a new... More

We had a light lunch in this very attractive building which has been very well adapted to form a chic space. My husband had a beer which he found very unusual as it tasted of peaches. My pate was good as was my husband's salad. Service was efficient.

Thank you for your kind comments. That beer could have been the IPA from '8 degrees' brewery in Cork which has a hint of passion fruit and yes, peaches! More
