We ate here last night and it was excellent from start to finish. We were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome on arrival. Sallyanne saw that my wife is pregnant and provided a cushion so that she was comfortable. There was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant, it was busy but not full. The sommelier was friendly but... Last night my husband I had an evening meal and we both thought it would have been far better than it was. Firstly the €75 menu was rather poor in selection. I chose mackerel which came like two sticks of celery and raw. Presumably it had been marinated but it was tasteless so I didn't eat it. My husband has... More

This is the kind of restaurant you feel a bit nervous on entering, worrying about what order to use the cutlery while doing a mental check on the balance of your credit card. We were looking for somewhere to take some elderly relatives (who were, fortunately, inviting us to lunch) and L'ecrivain was recommended to us. What a find! Wonderful... More

Had a wonderful four course meal with matching wines, The lamb main course was superb, sublime rich dessert brought back wonderful childhood memories and service was impeccable even if they are not big on smiles. My only crib and it's just my own personal taste, salmon that is only half cooked doesn't do it for me at all.

We went last night for dinner for 75 euro per person. We did not expect large portions of food. My starter of scallops was nice as was the foie gras which my partner had. However for the main course we had lamb and it was disappointing. It was a tiny portion and we were served one small portion of mashed... More

This restaurant deserves all the good reviews it frequently gets! A real treat. Dinner was delicious and the service was so discrete we barely noticed the changeover in between courses. And all those little touches that make this restaurant great .

I was delighted when I saw an offer for dinner for 2 at L'Ecrivain for two people for €75.00 of course there was restrictions but I understand the concept of these offers so that was no problem. We went there last night I found the ambiance cold and lacking in atmosphere. There were a number of other couple there but... More

My partner and I made a long overdue visit to l’Ecrivain last Saturday evening to celebrate a special milestone in our lives. We were warmly greeted on arrival by Chef-Proprietor Derry Clarke and that set the tone for a most enjoyable evening in the relaxing ambiance of the restored coach houses in which the restaurant is based. The restaurant staff... More

My partner treated me to the tasting menu with matching wines, we had an amazing time, young sommelier was excellent throughout, we really enjoyed the foie gras and rhubarb and turbot courses
