Fell upon this place while researching for the annual Christmas trip to soak up the festive atmosphere in Dublin. Great review led me here abs we were not disappointed - the service was exceptional, friendly and fun, and the food was honest and beautifully executed. Great options for the vegetarian as well as the main gang and speedy enough to pick off a few extras that you wanted more if as the meal went on. Definitely one for the repeat visit.

A large selection of options for my vegan daughter, not penalizing her meat-eating parents. The food itself was good, and the restaurant well situated. Staff attentive and willing to explain the menu to us. Few desserts available. Comforting overall.

This is my favourite restraunt in the City Centre, Fantastic Staff, Delicious Food Every Time and Unbeatable Affordability! I can never recommend this place enough and every time I have friends coming to stay I take them there. The location is ideal and it's probably the best priced eatery in Temple Bar the food portions are also perfect, enough to feel satisfied without feeling stuffed so I highly recommend this establishment!

After reading many of the preceeding reviews, I have to say that maybe they were just having an off night, as it was not even close to many of the glowing comments already made, in fact, I would go as far as to say that I was in the wrong 'Banyi' in a different reality. The one where the staff are not actually Japanese, but Chinese. The one where the grimy toilets are reached in the basement area where the ceiling is so low you have to duck. The restaurant where the whole 'Do you have a table' can we order a drink experience was so painful, we thought twice about leaving after 5 mins. Anyway, to the miso of the story ; the restaurant is of course in Temple bar, so prices are matching. However, they have ridiculously expensive 'Set meals', plus some specials up on the board. The restaurant itself is compact, with not much space between the seating, but thats not an issue. However, other issues (significant ones) would be the level of hygiene to start. Obviously a high turnover outlet, but the cleaning levels are poor at best. Regarding the food, the Ramen was poor and overly salted, the sushi was underwhelming and as many of the reviewers have already experienced, they use poor quality rice and not so fresh ingredients. The only saving grace for me personally were the sticky ribs, which I have to say were excellent. The drinks served were ok, even after several repeat requests for Ice. Wine was expensive and limited choice. For sushi and Japanese cuisine, Dublin has in fact many decent places now, but this is not included in that list. They will survive on one stop non repeat business for sure, hence no management feedback also, but I certainly have no need to go back there.

Absolutely the WORSE Japanese restaurant I have ever been to! The service was ‘okay’, but the food was horrible. The sushi was literally falling apart and our Teriyaki Chicken was a disgrace. Cheap chicken with bones and instead of fresh grilled vegetables which you usually get in other restaurants, we got salad leaves dripping in sauce. SALAD LEAVES, like really?! The taste was also not the best at all. Not worthy to be called a restaurant and will never go back!

The food was just ok. It’s our first visit. I had daily special kimchi seafood udon. Udon seems just out of the packages and the broth is very heavy. The prawn was good but the kimchi took over the tastes from the udon to the soup. And it was also my first time to force myself to finish the noodles in a restaurant 😂. Dunes even have better quality udon noodles than here . I’m a ramen lover, this broth is also hard to describe, tastes like a kimchi sauce mixed with salt water and light soya sauce. Based on all of this above,I felt that dish was over priced. However the staff was friendly. My boyfriend had a seafood teriyaki, and it’s ok on average. until I had the Matcha Fondant with red bean ice cream. This dessert saved my dinner.this warm green tea lava cake going very well with the red bean ice cream. The green tea creme brûlée was just ok.my boyfriend felt the food only on average.for me The price was a bit high but understandable by its location. Maybe we didn’t find the right dishes from the menu. However, still give it an average. The dessert really saved a star for this place. Hope the chef will improve sth with the broth. I will drink a lot of water tonight after having the soggy noodles...just because I didn’t want to waste the food and ruin our date...

Traditional quality sushi with welcoming staff. We spent an evening during January 2022 when the restaurant was still closing at 8.00pm. We have been warmly welcomed and the food was really good. Be careful with the size of the sushi, the "big" ones are really big but delicious. I would definitely recommend to stop by if you love sushi.

We chose the place because of the raving reviews. The staff was attentive, the service but the food was below average. The sushi was tasteless, the teppanyaki was inedible and the braised beef left much to be desired. I'd definitely give it a miss.

Banyi came as an absolute surprise to us as we walked around Temple bar in Dublin and were looking for a cozy place to eat. Where to start? Very friendly staff taking care of our stroller, giving us a nice table. The food is amazing, fresh, authentic, reasonably priced for a very high quality. They are very quick, not obtrusive but attentive at any time. What else do you wish? We were lucky to be there when two Japanese musicians have had eaten as well and have the whole restaurant a mini concert. It was just amazing. So if you are ever hungry and like Asian food -> that’s your best place to hit in central Dublin!

Enjoyed the aburi plater which is a combination of sashimi, nigiri , and a roll with seared tuna, salmon, and sea bass. The seared fish added a good flavor to the sushi. I don’t think the quality of fish is quite what we are used to but overall it was good.

Won a work competition and decided to make a day of it. Two Bento novices headed into Dublin on the train having booked a table at Banyi. Never fear Becky's here. She was a brilliant, friendly and helpful server of some of the the tastiest food we've had recently. Travel far M'Lady. Lovely to meet you. Thank you all at Banyi for making our evening so memorable. Loved it! The food was delicious!

Fair Japanese food in the busy Temple Bar zone. This calm restaurant definitely contrasts the loud and busy area that is the rest of Temple Bar. The food was quite nice, but nothing so memorable. However it did seem at times that the staff were watching us. If you happen to be in the area and like Japanese food and want a quiet environment, maybe this is for you.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with no reservation and were gladly accommodated. Food was so fresh and delicious , we had pork ramen, sushi, bao buns, and salmon bento box . We were hungry that day 😂 Everything hit the spot!! No complaints at all. Meat was tender , sushi tasted like it was just made and all so tasty.

Very nice staff but unfortunately not more than that. In that case, I would recommend Musashi sushi on Parnell Street for those who fancy Asian food. Neither the restaurant nor the street Banyi was on had a particularly inviting atmosphere. We still gave it a try because the pictures of the food looked nice. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. We tried the ramen and rice bowl. In the frame, there was fried shrimp where the batter more or less floated into the food and formed an unappetizing cake. There was nothing wrong with the rice bowl in itself other than that it was somewhat tasteless. But as I said very nice staff and very close next to a lovely street full of Irish pubs.
