Ah well - there's goes a relaxing Thursday afternoon lunch that was supposed to be a 'wind-down'. Arrived on at 3:30pm - place dead, needed to make a work call before ordering - asked to be seated in a quieter area - to be told that area was closed! Music blaring the whole time here. Well that's ok - sit... More

Very centrally located in Dun Laoghaire and a great menu. The food is very tasty and very reasonable priced. A good restaurant to visit if out at the pier for the day.

I walked into Mao having just arrived into Dun Laoghaire on a business trip and needing something light to eat. I've eaten there before and the food isn't bad. However, there is a sign asking you to wait to be seated. I did so, and stood for about five minutes while the waitstaff flitted about, ignoring me. There were at... More

One of the reasons I enjoy Asian food so much is that there are generally great vegan options, much more so that in western-type restaurants. Imagine my surprise when I found that Mao only had one vegan starter and one vegan main course on their whole menu. I almost left at that stage but our Asian waitress was very persuasive... More

Overrated food, not motivated staff. 5% service included in the bill is a nonsense , i always tip 10% but did not leave anything due to that.

It is a very strange feeling to walk into a restaurant that's named after a brutal dictator noted, amongst other grand felonies, for starving his people on a colossal scale. And frankly, it shows a want of taste by the owners of this chain of restaurants (for I understand this branch is one of a few) but in other ways... More

The food is excellent with a large choice. I found the staff particularly helpful. The location of the restaurant is ideal.

I would have given this five stars only for the service we received on our visit. Our waitress was completely oblivious to us for most of the time we were there, forgetting to bring our drinks and part of our main course, waiting almost half an hour after we had finished our meal to have our table cleared off and... I went for lunch here with the boss recently, not my latest lady friend, but my actual boss at work. I had the black pepper beef with noodles. I think it is fantastic, I always get it and it is probably the nicest stir fry I know of in Dublin. The boss had the Pad Thai. He said it was... More
