Booked table for 6:30 for 3. Arrived at 6:20 and shown to our table in the corner with all social distance protocols observed. Staff read specials and took our drinks order. Leek canape and bread were a good start before our starters. We had scallops, prawns and seafood cassoulet between us. All cooked to perfection and very tasty. Mains were lobaster special, pork belly with scallops and seabass. Wide selection of potatoes and vegetables at the table. Again all cooked to perfection with special mention to the seabass that was so light. Finished off with Panna cotta. Service was a bit slow but we did not mind this as we were in no hurry, and it was nice not to feel rushed. Would highly recommend.

My wife and I ,who were staying in the area, had a nice dining experience in this restaurant. Once we had got through the Covid regulations, a bit more awkward for visitors from Northern Ireland who as yet have no digital passport, we were shown to a cosy little table for two in an alcove. My wife has a severe gluten intolerance but she was well catered for here in all courses. (Not the usual pavlova or ice cream for dessert.) I had an excellent salmon and monkfish dish. Despite the restaurant being very busy there was still a fairly ambient atmosphere and we had a fine dining experience.

Meal for 3 was delightful from start to finish. Beautiful setting and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the scallops starter and fish main courses. The pork Belly was great- if you like this Dannie Minnies version is cooked to perfection . Little fella enjoyed his sausage and mash too. We will definitely be back. Great compliance also with the Covid rules in these difficult times.

I personally did not understand the hype around this restaurant. The staff were pleasant, and the decor was lovely, however we all found the food relatively average. There was nothing overly special about the meal, we had expected a little bit more imaginative meals given the price. The food was grand, there was nothing wrong with it, we just found it very basic and at times a bit tasteless. That being said however, the restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff overall were lovely to deal with.

Been a while since i was in this restaurant, interior very welcoming and lovely to sit and have a drink while you peruse the menu. I stay in hotels all over UK and Europe weekly and it was nice to visit DM's for a meal. This was a family gathering meal and our host was very professional in explaining the menu. The small details are what makes you stand out and I think with a little work it would definitely be award winning. First off there was no soup mentioned in the menu and when staff began taking the order it was then we were informed of the soup of the day. Also there was no vegetarian options listed until the member of staff finally found the one menu that had them listed. Put the vegetarian menu in all folders... No questions regarding allergies at all! Menu was slightly limited but interesting all the same. I think the starters were the best part of the meal as everyone enjoyed them but it was the mains that let the service down. I ordered the local Sirloin and asked for it to be Medium/well, and on my meal coming to the table I asked the young waitress if this was the Medium /Well steak to which she replied "I dont know, but your the only one having steak so I guess so" the steak was rare and literally sealed that was all! Another person had the fish which seemed to have been sitting under a heat lamp as it was far too dry and no flavour. Duck was way over done and hard "mentioned by two of our guests eating it. Desserts were nice but my main annoyance is that when a group is sitting at the end of a meal the last thing you want is a member of staff clearing away all of the excess cutlery and glasses that are not in use!! it almost feels like you are being asked to finish up and leave when you have just spent over £350 euros. Lastly the staff could not find our coats which was hilarious to say the least. When you have no competition in the area people will class this as fine dining but I genuinely have eaten better for less with better service. I think I will stick with eating in An Chuirt or Jacks in future or a little longer journey to McCaffertys in Dungloe

Further to myself and a group of friends attending this restaurant on 2nd August 2024, we were all very disappointed at the way we were treated. Firstly, we were rushed into the restaurant (well before our booking time as we intended to have aperitifs in the bar) and again were asked to leave the restaurant as soon as we finished desserts even though we were still drinking wine, liqueur coffees etc. Bearing in mind this is meant to be fine dining, and the price reflects same, the food was served to us in such haste and I was still eating my starter when the mains came out and again same with dessert. We were so jammed into our table, with no room whatsoever between ourselves and the people behind us, leaving the waitress no room to get around us, so we had to hand the plates of food to each other. I don't think I have ever experienced anything like it before and especially in a restaurant I believed to be of a high standard. After ordering several bottles of expensive red wine (not house wine) in the restaurant, we were unable to get proper red wine glasses as you had run out although we could see others clearly getting these glasses and also could see dirty red wine glasses sitting up at the bar in the restaurant. Needless to say, I expected so much more from Dannie Minnies and certainly won't be rushing back. Had we been treated better and allowed to enjoy our meal and drinks without having to rush and given the chance to relax, we certainly would have stayed in the bar for longer afterwards but we were all so annoyed. It was like get you in, get your money and get you out..... Whilst I must compliment the quality of the food, which was outstanding, same cannot be enjoyed in an atmosphere like that. Our booking was for 7pm and we back out in the bar at 8pm! I have already sent an email to the restaurant and never got the courtesy of a reply. A very unsatisfied customer.

Having first dined here 20 years ago when a different Generation was heading up this family business, it’s something of a relief to report that Danny Minnie’s remains a worthwhile ‘destination’ eating experience. The fabric of the place itself has character. It has elements that are ‘grand’ yet there’s a distinctly ‘homely’ feel. Open fires burning, an eclectic mix of furnishings, nooks & crannies…there’s lots that add to an atmosphere of intimacy and warmth. Service generally was ‘good’ - nothing particularly memorable and definitely scope for an injection of personality. The menu is not extensive but don’t mistake that for a lack of choice ; there’s something to more than satisfy every palette. And shout-out for the half duck which was superb. Not so for the bread ( brioche ) & butter pudding which had woeful plate appeal and a total imbalance of ‘taste’. It needs a serious re-think or better, removal from the dessert offering. And full marks of appreciation for the singing chef who surprised and delighted the entire dining areas in equal measure…

A lovely setting and an excellent choice of starter/main courses from their table d’hote menu. Plenty of seafood (scallops, prawns) & duck starter was really special. Most of us went for the daily special (halibut), great call, others had steak & lamb, everybody happy! Decent wine list too & not overly expensive.

When I visited Danny Minnie's some time ago, I was suitably impressed and deeply enjoyed my time there. From the beginning, this restaurant was something special. The staff were all very friendly, and the atmosphere was quite perfect. The whole establishment was very warm and inviting, and I had the feeling that I was welcome the minute I walked inside. The food was something truly incredible as well. All of the ingredients were locally sourced and were cooked to perfection. Every flavor worked in concert to create a culinary experience that was truly incredible. Each dish was better than the last, and it was something wonderful indeed. And I would gladly visit Danny Minnie's in a heartbeat should I get the chance- I would love to experience a meal like this again. As a final note, I was there to hear the chef sing- and it capped off the whole experience perfectly. It turned an incredible meal into a perfect one.

We had heard great things about this restaurant and were definitely not disappointed! In a beautiful setting, it was hard to believe it was on the main road of the town! A beautifully designed building, it had nooks and crannies, crammed with all sorts of knick knacks with a traditional feel. We were welcomed into the bar and sat down in cosy seating with menus to peruse. After much contemplating we ordered our food and wine. We were then led to the wood panelled dining room to a grand table dressed in white linen. Our starters were exceptional-such beautiful flavours! The mains were just a good with the best side vegetables I have ever tasted! Every mouthful was a feast to the senses and we have never been so quiet! In the middle of proceedings a happy birthday was sung to one of the customers followed by an Italian operatic number sung by one of the chefs! Quite an experience! As we finished off, we heard strains of a trad band playing from the bar. An idyllic end to a fantastic evening! A shout out to Nicola (I'm sure that's not how it was spelled or pronounced) who was great craic as our waitress!

We hadnt been here since 2019..covid happened so only returning now. Our rooms were beautiful, I just love all the antiques and beautiful bed linen.rooms are comfortable and spotless. The breakfast is amazing, plentiful, fresh and delicious, homemade scones with apple jelly, selections of hot food and a lovely buffet table. We had dinner Sat night. WOW.. 3 had steaks and I had seabass, the food was so fresh, brilliantly cooked to perfection and as there were several birthdays there was a lot of happy birthday songs however the chef came out to sing to a couple celebrating their anniversary and he sang "O Sole Mio" in Italian. It was amazing, such a super tenor. Now, Danny Minnies is famous for its food but what makes Danny Minnies special is the staff. Shiela (love Shiela) and everyone else, they just make every guest so welcome and there is always a bit of craic. A big thank you to everyone for allowing us to have a very special weekend. Ps Shiela, so glad you encouraged me to do the Crolly whiskey tour..it was great. Hope to be back next year. Slan go foill Eileen and the gang,Belfast

From starter to dessert everything is perfect. Excellent even in the small details. We have eaten at Danny Minnie's before and we were happy to return. Very tasty food and moreover very copious contrary to many French restaurants that pride themselves on serving gastronomic cuisine. We will return the next time we are in Anagaire.

I visited this restaurant as part of a very large group. We were seated in a lovely area for pre dinner drinks while the dinner menu circulated. The menu is extensive and caters for all. I had a beautiful salad starter of crab meat and prawns. The taste and presentation was superb. I followed this with a main course of Donegal lamb. I chose crème brûlée as my desert. The meal was 10/10. Service was equally high class. It was an absolute pleasure to meet the chef Brian O Donnell after the meal and personally thank him for a divine culinary experience. Highly, highly recommend!

I visited this restaurant on the high recommendation of friends. Nothing could have prepared me for the treat to come. It’s easiest if I give several bare statements: Staff were most welcoming … friendly & professional. I was made comfortable in an armchair beside a blazing log fire. The restaurant was chock-a-block with very interesting antiques … this complemented the friendly ambiance. The menu was varied & exciting. I eventually settled for Prawns cooked in garlic & chili butter, a main of Donegal Lamb with all the trimmings, and ended with a Chocolate Platter of milk chocolate mousse, rich dark chocolate cake & white chocolate ice cream. Quite simply, every item was cooked to perfection. As I left, I was treated as a new & valued friend. And, I can assure you that I WILL return.

This was our first meal out since COVID. We joined my sister who lives locally when we were visiting Donegal. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Delicious food...very generous portions. Friendly and attentive staff. Excellent social distancing measures and sanitising measures. All staff were wearing masks and visors. We had the duck, lamb and steak among other dishes. Disappointing to hear that a table of 10 didn’t show up earlier given how hard you’re working around measures to be trading. Keep doing what you’re doing it’s great and we will be back on our next trip!
