This used to be the best place to break a journey on the A9: the café still looks much the same, but the garden centre has gone and the place now operates primarily as as an outdoor activities centre ("Nae Limits"). Although the café looked unchanged, and a large menu board was displayed, we were curtly told that they weren't... More

Been here so many times ,stopping off on way to or from Inverness . Great tea ,fantastic rolls etc and the home baking is to die for and all reasonably priced . Heard from one of the waiters that the place is closing down at end of April and being bought by Nae Limits ( you know that lot that... More

We have been stopping here whenever we are in the area and it never disappoints. In the winter the wood burning fire is the place to be. Service is always friendly and the food is very good. The shop has a full range of gardening accessories.

This is a little gem. If you can't get what you want in the garden centre, stop for some lovely homemade soup and crusty bread here. It really hits the spot and was more tasty than I expected to find. Service was prompt and friendly too. Rather than stop in to the garden centre to pick something up, I'll make... More

Had a break at this coffee shop & garden centre on our way to Aviemore. Very clean and warm (lovely wood burner in the corner). You order at the counter, choose your own table, and then your order is brought to you. A really nice cup of coffee & great homemade cakes - even managed to get the recipe for... More

Stopped for coffee en route Inverness - Edinburgh. Coffee excellent. Was allowed a bacon and egg roll even though it was way past breakfast time. THE best bacon/egg roll I've had in years. Not the usual rubbish cheap roll you get so often. This one was crispy and fresh. Bacon was generous and 2 eggs. Wow! Lovely surprise.

Allium garden centre, on the A9 between Pitlochry and Perth, is a great place to stop for lunch. The food to delicious: wholesome Scottish cooking, great coffee, and wonderful cakes. The shop is good too for those essential nicknacks and they have a good eclectic range of plants. Certainly worth a visit and a place to return again and again.

Went here with my elderly parents who had been before. They were impressed by the upgrade and the cafe is very modern and welcoming. However, the welcome was a little frosty by a young girl who took the order. After ordering at the counter the food is brought to you and you pay when finished. The young boy who served... More

I'm afraid I can't comment on the food here as I left before ordering. Having looked through the uninspiring menu in the half -full cafe, I went to order at the counter and was looked through several times with no acknowledgement. Eventually a young woman addressed me, I enquired about the specials to be told very curtly there was mushroom... More

I'm becoming a bit of regular at Allium - the reason? The coffee is really good and their meals are lovely. Today we had the basil ricotta and brie tart - gorgeous! It's a real gem, spotless and the staff really pleasant and helpful, oh and it's a minute off the A9. Does it get any better?
