I walked into the restaurant last Wednesday night with my girlfriend at 9:15 pm ,asked for a table for two and been told from a blonde girl ( probably a manageress ) in a very rude and unwelcome way that she could give us a table only if we would order our food very quickly and choose one course because... Unexpected pleasure, as we entered this buzzing, very modern, Italian Restaurant/Cafe on an overcast Glasgow Afternoon. We were seated at a side table, but upon requesting a booth that became available, were seamlessly escorted to a much more suitable booth. The crowd was young, office workers, mixed with tourists and shoppers of mixed ages, very eclectic clientele, in other words.... More

I was wandering around Merchant City waiting for my daughter when I decided, on a whim, to pop in here for a late solo lunch. Very glad I did. A quiet corner, attentive staff, three delicious choices from the small plate menu and I left very happy. The salmon pasta was particularly good. For three small dishes and a soft... More

Absolutely delicious. Both myself and my partner could not fault the food or the service. Only a small complaint the room was roasting, but that was probably due to how busy it was, which is always a sign of a good restaurant!

My self and my partner have been coming here for years and we always recommend the place. We took our Australian family here on Sunday night and we were treated well and had fantastic food. I am however disappointed with the new menu. My main reason for coming here was always for two main things . The potato gratini and... More

Very, very dissapointed. No atmosphere, incredibly slow service, OK food, expensive prices. I have no issue 'paying' for food, but when I do I expect great food and excellent service. Neither was experienced at the Italian caffe. Avoid this poor excuse for a restaurant.

Hugely disappointing visit with below average food and terrible service. Interestingly I see others have commented on the poor service too. What I assume was the manageress was curt and rude and pushy and made what was meant to be a Thursday treat an unpleasant experience. Seafood pasta was dry and tasteless and the wife's didn't fair much better. Almost... More

We went for the set menu (available for lunch and pre-theatre) not entirely sure what we would get as there was not much of an explanation (we should have asked?) but it turned out to be of good quality and tasty all freshly prepared (hot) with reasonable portion sizes for tapas. Drinks prices were reasonable. Well worth a visit.

My husband and I went here with an itison voucher but I have to say I was really disappointed with the very poor service. We waited ages to be served then had to wait a while for the meal to come. We ordered tea and coffee which never arrived after half an hour so we decided to leave. Not what... More

My wife and I felt like a wee treat one Sunday night so we booked in here ,,, initially it looks warm and inviting and as soon as we walked in we were greeted after the waitress had finished what she was doing at till . We were shown to our seats and left to do what we wanted with... More

Description
Glasgow's first enoteca, The Italian Caffe is situated right in the very centre of Merchant City, offering fine dining and fine wines in a sleek and contemporary atmosphere. Intended to be a bit of a home from home, The Italian Caffe may be modern and upmarket but it's nonetheless cosy and welcoming, a place to relax and unwind after a hard day in the office. Take your pick from comfortable deep green banquettes, window side seating or a perch at the bar and settle in for an evening of chilled indulgence courtesy of your choice from The Italian Caffe's fifty-odd excellent and carefully chosen wines, both Italian and international. And though those fantastic wines form the backbone of the enoteca approach don't think for a moment that food has been neglected.
