Whilst visiting Edinburgh we visited this place - by far the BEST fish we have had from anywhere. We have travelled quite a bit over the UK and do like our traditional fish and chips. Will definitely be visiting this place again when we are in Edinburgh. Reasonably priced, decent portions. Kids portions wre generous size and our kids loved... More

The serving was way smaller than we were told. But the fish was good and so was the chips. The choise in beer was not as expected in a city with these many tourists. They also have an app that could give you someting for free, but do not download it. It is slow, asks for too much personal information... More

Popped in twice for lunch whilst we were in St Andrews for the week, both times excellent. Traditional chip shop options, cooked well and of high quality. I chose two starters instead of a main as the choices looked so good and I wasn't disappointed: tiger prawns, scallops and the amazing sea bass tacos! The seafood was cooked perfectly in... More

Payed our first visit here in March for an evening meal in the restaurant. First class service and friendly staff make for a great experience. Fish and chips was first class as was the seafood curry and a good selection of wines/beers. I would imagine it getting busy at weekends and during the holiday season so would advise booking.

I read this spot had great fish and chips, so we tried it out. It was delicious! <y cousin had the fish and chips and it was the best on the trip. I ended up ordering the monkfish, simply cooked with little pesto on the side and garlic potatoes. So simple it would have been very obvious if it were... More

We ate in this popular dinning place, and they could even accommodate a non fish eating customer. Charming range of options, wide fish choice, free seconds of chips and local gin to taste!

On the Main Street in St Andrews, we were drawn in by the glorious smell of vinegar. This isn't just a take away chippy, there is a smart restaurant at the rear, a take away counter at the front and a fabulous wet fish shop with a great range of fresh seafood, arbroath smokies and some fantastic home made smoked... Had a recommendation to try their fish and chips and went to give it a try. Living in Yorkshire we do have lots of chip shops to compare with The Tailend but we found that their offering was first class. We even tried the cheesecake and that was unbelievably good. Strongly recommend giving the place a try.

We visited this restaurant and was told there was a 15 minute wait for a table, we asked if we could order our food while waiting as we were informed that Gluten Free would take longer to cook? We were eventually taken to our table No. 20 in the conservatory. Just to warn you that there is a drain that... More

We are a family run fish bar and restaurant. We have been in the fish business for four generations and we hope to keep the family tradition going. All our fish is locally sourced and is as fresh as can be. We have our own fish house based in Arbroath, Where we are particularly famous for our Smokies! (Haddock cooked over a barrel, giving an intense smoked flavour) and our Humble Haddock is also a customer Favorite! We are passionate about seafood and it comes across in all our dishes from the Humble Haddock to our Seared Tuna steak! We carry a bespoke range of wines and whiskys suited to compliment your dish, just ask our serving staff for advice.
