Excellent Food in a cosy environment. The staff are very pleasant. We chose from the set menu with a handful of choices for each course. Very centrally located. Recommended

Dined here for lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon and lingered to chat but the staff were patient and didn't hurry us in any way. The three course lunch menu (£18.95) was excellent value and had choices to suit everyone. We opted for pea and...More

This place is a bit of a hidden gem in Edinburgh. The food is always great. Last night I had the pork cheek with puy lentils and kholrabi starter, lamb loin with haggis in pastry in a peppercorn sauce and sticky toffee pudding for dessert....More

Excellent food and service. It is a shame that more people had not chosen to visit Iris on Sunday. It is a bit out of the way in Thistle Street, but well worth a try.

My wife and I recently had dinner here and we were very pleased with the quality of the food. We also had a nice bottle of wine. The staff was very polite and courtesy. Overall had a good experience.

Been a while since I've frequented this little restaurant just off the central streets of Edinburgh. Another thoroughly enjoyable experience. Friday night and not having booked a table we thought chances were very slim. However this little hidden jewel had couple of spare tables. Unfortunately...More

Chose this restaurant as good central location, previously enjoyed good food here and wanted somewhere quiet to linger and chat. Not disappointed on any count. The fixed price menu is excellent value and had a decent choice. For starter I had deep fried brie with...More

Iris is a gem of a restaurant. I try to go every time I visit Edinburgh. Located on Thistle Street which is parallel and north of George Street, Iris is in the heart of Edinburgh's UNESCO Heritage New Town. This part of town was planned...More

New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town,
until after dark when strappy dresses come out to
play. This is the city’s central business district
with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many
of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest
clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street
helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned
Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric

Tucked away on Thistle Street, Iris has been a welcome addition to the Edinburgh restaurant scene. This chic little bistro - with its designer wallpaper, banquette seating and rough stone walls – has an intimate, cosmopolitan vibe, and is popular with a discreet and sophisticated creative crowd. The modern European menu is guaranteed to impress, we love the roast duck breast with fresh raspberries and Drambuie; chicken supreme stuffed with langoustines served with a garlic and herb buerre blanc; and the roasted quail with spicy potatoes served with an orange and rocket salad. Ideal for stylish working lunches, and informal evening meals, Iris also has an extensive wine list with up to 17 bottles for under £20.
