One of my Indian-born colleagues took us here for an evening meal when I was working with him in Edinburgh. We were treated right royally, had a very flavoursome starter, then had a tremendously good biriyani that had apparently been cooking for several hours to...More

Hit on this place by accident. A great family run restaurant that caters for lots of tastes. Good food far better than usual Indian/Asian fare. Great value for money and excellent service from friendly professional staff. Why bother paying more for less quality food and...More

Great curry between fringe shows- friendly staff, good service and good food. 4 different curries all of which were delicious and very different satisfying both vegetarian and carnivores in the party.

After eating bland, expensive Indian food in too many Scottish establishments, this one was a real find. Some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Friendly staff, reasonably priced and not to busy, despite the Festival.

Stopped off at Zest for a late night curry last night. It was great! We had the Jaipur chicken, and the crushed chilli chicken with a great garlic naan bread. Fresh, tasty, and great service! Staff friendly and attentive, what a find!

New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town,
until after dark when strappy dresses come out to
play. This is the city’s central business district
with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many
of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest
clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street
helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned
Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric

Hi , Fristly - there was no baggage. You were never upfront about high chair - we asked you for it & then you said you don't have a high chair in the most rudest way possible , which is when we asked you for a bigger table... More

Not your usual Bangladeshi Indian restaurant, Zest is smart and modern with a terrific menu combining classic and inventive dishes. The decor in this bright, airy, centre-of-town shopfront is clean and open, with white walls, blond chairs, contemporary styling. The menu includes dishes like starter of Zest's own tandoori trout, main course of medium-spicy Jaipuri chicken with fried mushrooms, onions and capsicums with Punjabi masala in thick sauce. Peshwari naan and bhajis are excellent. The service is hip and friendly and the wine list well matched to the flavours. And yes, there is chicken tikka masala, if you must, but this is a great place for exploring new flavours.
