This place does ok vegan (and vegetarian) diner food — burgers, hotdogs, onion rings, macaroni cheese and the like — in lovely, quirky surroundings. Not the best vegan diner food in the UK (for that, try Glasgow or London) but, hey, hot dogs and onion...More

Attracted by the g/f choices, though put off by the staff member engrossed on his phone puffing away unwelcomingly outside. Weighing up + and -'s we took refuge from the gale and went forth... Luke warm welcome followed by cloying cauliflower, unrecognisable chees n' mac, rice...More

We came here a few weeks ago and although the food was amazing, it is safe to say that we were unimpressed with the quality of customer service that we received. On walking into the restaurant we were ignored for about 10 minutes before we...More

We stopped by for a quick lunch, although we are not vegetarians, we thought to give it a go. We were not disappointed, the vegan nachos were lovely and a big portion too, good enough for two. The fried halloumi was also huge and so...More

Stopped here for cocktails before dinner. Nice choice of old school and their own cocktails, jungle bird and figgy smalls were definitely worth a go. Haven't eaten here but will return at some point as the food looked fantastic!

The palms is one of those bars that fills you with joy just being inside. It’s a dive tiki bar oozing with character, harbouring the spectre of a Victorian gin den. The food is sensational, aimed at vegans but enjoyed by all, the pulled jackfruit...More

This used to be my favourite bar in Edinburgh, but I am rapidly going off it. On the last few visits the staff have been surly, bordering on rude. A smile wouldn't go amiss! Quality of service also seems hit or miss depending on who...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
