This is one of the most interesting restaurants we have eaten in even before all the lockdowns. The staff were all lovely, vey attentive and gave what felt like a very personal service. The food was fantastic, so tasty and comforting and the deserts of...Sticky Toffee pudding and Rhubard and Cherry Crumble were delicious. It all felt very Covid friendly and was excellent value for money. I could not recommend this highly enough. We will definitely be back soon.More

It’s my first time in Edinburgh and I stumbled upon this place by chance (and to my good fortune!). To keep it simple, the food is delicious. I had the beef haggis with cheesy mash, which came with a lovely creamy peppercorn sauce. The food...was full of flavour, warm, hearty and filling, and had a real home-made feeling, just what you need on a chilly September evening. The staff were great, so friendly and attentive. I was never waiting around to be served, they were so on the ball with everything and always asking if I needed anything. I think it helps that this is quite a small cosy place, which added to the charm. The wall was also full of quotes from famous Scots and writers/poets etc which was a lovely little touch. I honestly can’t fault this place!More

My husband and I stopped at Gourmet Mash Bar not really expecting to get a table given the challenges with Covid-19. We were very lucky to get the only table left, by the time we were seated a queue had formed with bookings the only...option. The staff, Kirstie & David, couldn't have been nicer and were super helpful identifying vegan options for me and allergen info for my husband. The food was quick to arrive, a decent portion as tasty as we'd hoped. We are regular visitors to Edinburgh but this was our first time at the Mash Bar, definitely it won't be the last.More

Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
