The food was great and reasonably priced, we were the only people in the restaurant but I don't understand why. We took our own bottle of wine and were immediately brought glasses and a bottle cooler, we didn't have to wait long for our starters or main courses and the food tasted fresh and was as good as any other... We ate here as the other restaurant we were going to go to wasn't open. It was a risk as no one was in it, was a bit wary. But the food was really tasty. We liked it so much we went back the following week and all was the same (I love consistency). So far I've had the hot... More

Food was actually ok when it arrived but it was just the slowest service. The staff were lovely but just very disorganised.

"Ate" here last night with friends on a visit to the Edinburgh festival, Thai is my favourite so I was delighted to see that they had a special offer on, so result!!! We sat ourselves down (was plenty of seats) and were duly brought menus, which looked really appetising to say the least.... After about fifteen (ish) minutes, a very... More

Stop here here was a meal prior to a Festival show. It was early hence there wasn't problems with the service. The girl serving was very pleasant and the food supplied very tasty and we could have no complaints.

I came back from a trip to Thailand 3 weeks ago and was really craving for some good thai food like what I had sampled on my holiday in Krabi. After searching online, I found this wonderfully quaint Thai restaurant just off the Royal Mile. I came around 5.45pm and the restaurant was still empty. The friendly waitress welcomed me... More

Small old fashioned looking restaurant in centre of Edinburgh, hoped for a nice fast tasty Thai meal, unfortunately did not get this. The food was very basic and of poor quality. Service was painfully slow and the ladies toilet pretty grim with paint peeling off the walls, dust & cobwebs everywhere. How this restaurant survives in the centre of Edinburgh... More

Cannot fault the food, however the service was pathetic. Asked for ice in drinks, no ice arrived, reminded waitress of ice then waited 15 minutes for ice to arrive. Cans of Coke were "not for resale" which they obviously we're being. Ordered spare ribs, came without means to wash hands such as wipes or bowl of water. When this was... More

We ordered 2 curries to take away and we only had to wait 10 minutes. Cury flavour was very nice, but chunkier, tender bits of meat would've made it a 4-5 star dish!

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
