I honestly wouldn't be able to recommend this restaurant. Though the dishes look great they were quite disappointing, with dishes either under seasoned or over cooked. At the price of 7 course tasting menu, you'd expect more, not only from the dishes but the service...More

We went here for a birthday, having had a few taster menus before and deciding to try the seven course one here. Two of us requested a few changes to the food on offer and this was accommodated without any issues. Three of the party...More

We visited as a special wedding anniversary treat. We cannot fault one thing at the restaurant. The service was brilliant. Vladimir was a great host, as was the female waitress (didn't get her name). The food was incredible, all 7 courses. The matching wines were...More

Me and my partner have visited Purslane twice. Most recently was Dec 2016 just before Christmas, we went for a festive meal together. It was fabulous and just as delicious as I had remembered. The restaurant is hidden away from the main stretch of Stockbridge...More

This tiny restaurant, tucked away on St Stephen Street has a small and wonderful menu of fine modern Scottish fair in casual surrounds. Game and seafood anchor the menu while there are also vegetarian options. A Spanish Gin cocktail helped us make out choices and...More

Really good tasting dinner in a casual, easy-going atmosphere. My girlfriend and I had the 5-course dinner with paired wines. The after-dinner espresso came with a selection of delicious home-made pralinés (chocolates and little cookies) that we had to take away as we had no...More

Small cosy restaurant that has an extremely friendly feel to it. Food was delicious, service was impeccable and second to none. My girlfriend ordered a glass of prosecco as soon as we sat down which was promptly fetched, but then she read the menu and...More

We had the 7 course taster menu. It's very good in a very pleasant environment. Alex and Vlad were the fantastic staff on the night.

Came for a birthday meal and was not disappointed! It's a very small place so booking is a must as whilst we were there people were getting turned away. Enjoyed the taster menu (7 courses) with matching wines which for £80pp I thought was a...More

Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling
a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s
small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s
first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s
most desirable, though many bohemian touches have
fallen away as its residents have matured and the area
has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but
mostly residents display refined tastes in basement

No, it's in the lower ground floor of a building and has stone steps down to it, which is unfortunate if you are not so able bodied as its a great restaurant.
Are you dog friendly?

Anna, I was a visitor there a couple of months ago. You can call the restaurant directly. However, it is a small indoor space and I doubt they take dogs.
Is there a corkage policy???

The restaurant offers an extensive wine list so isn't BYOB. There is a wide range of delicious wines to choose from however so you won't be disappointed.
