I went here with my mum for lunch and we opted foe the vegetarian anti-pasti! And the suggested wine. We were really impressed. The grilled veg was delicious, light but bursting with flavour. The polenta chips were also fantastic and this is where my only criticism arises; there was 2 polenta chips. Im sure V&C could stretch to 4 so... More

Visited today and had lovely coffee, panini and cake. Loo stop just before we left, how horrible was that, didn't look as if any of it had been cleaned for a while. Pretty shoddy and not what you would expect from this sort of establishment.

I am a huge fan of Valvona and Crolla, until today. Popped in for some lunch, and had to ask if someone wanted to take my order, waited twenty minutes for bread and the forty minutes for pasta, which only arrived after we asked if it was ready. One of the dishes was tasteless. The waiter offered to speak to... More

Popped in today for a late afternoon light lunch. Frittata with artichokes and salad and a pear, goats cheese and chicory salad were our choices which we shared. Simple accompaniment of a selection of fresh breads and excellent olive oil and balsamic dip. Quite delicious. Happy to recommend- and it didn't break the bank.

I'm a big fan of Valvona & Crolla! This is a great place for a coffee and nibble whether meeting friends or, as we needed, a pick me up on a shopping trip. The coffee is consistently good and the cafe relaxing and comfortable. On this trip there was only one server who was seemed a bit stressed trying to... More

Popped in here for lunch. Lovely pizzas and sea food linguine. Great service, not too busy. Was surprisingly quiet for a Friday lunchtime.

We visited for Saturday lunc, before the journey home. The food and service was excellent. I had the Orecchiette with Italian sausage, and my partner had the Papardelle Ragu using beef cheeks, which were excellent. For drinks we had one glass of Kir Royale and a large Rose. Total bill £43.65.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
