The place is open until quite late and we had dinner at 11.00, so it is appreciated as most places around food is stopped being served at 10.30, so it was our only option. The waitress was kind and the food was okish.

Having arrived in Edinburgh very late due to a delayed flight we were looking for somewhere to eat and one of the very few places open at 11.15 on a Thursday night was the China Star. An excellent welcome and a very reasonable yet inexpensive...More

Well, I was fancy with a bit of Chinese food and I found this place. It was the start of dinner service so there was not many people around. The place looks like your typical Chinese restaurant. Bright colours, tired looking furniture. The waitresses were...More

Visited on Tuesday the place was fairly well occupied by patrons who seem to regulars, judging by their familiarity with the staff. My meal was nice enough and the portions were more than ample, the eating areas were clean, tables were basic, plastic wipe down...More

This is a typical Chinese restaurant where you get what you see. It has to be said that when we went it was exceptionally quiet, but the friendliness of the staff was evident (I don't think the service was good just because it was quiet)...More

Decided to go to this place after the rugby as a friend of the family used to own it so wanted to see how it was since then. Needless to say it was diabolical, ordered a variety of starters which were just grease, the bill...More

We went in on spec while in the area. The waitress was friendly and efficient. The menu seemed to have a large variety of interesting options. I had a selection of satay skewers- spicy with good quality meats and prawns. My husband enjoyed his egg...More

Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in
industrial Britain had their most desirable

Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest
citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind
grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel
