This is an excellent little cafe in city centre. I've been here several times for a breakfast/brunch, I always get the eggs florentine (they're always perfect) with a flat-white but all the food looks good. The waffles look particularly good. If you're planning on going I'd try to get there early at the weekend - it fills up pretty quick.

A small place with a good relaxed atmosphere. Great for brunch. The eggs benedict and variations were excellent. Good barista coffee too. The food options for lunch looked tasty too.

Papii is one of my regular work lunch stops. There’s no shortage of lunch options around Hanover Street but Papii is easily the best around. I tend to stick to the Panini’s (great quality fillings) but the pasta bakes always look tempting and there’s a nice selection of lunch offerings. While the menu doesn’t change often, Papii sticks to what... More

Based upon previous reviews and finding myself in Edinburgh in the morning, I sought and found Papii. It was everything as good as has been reported. A great selection - I had a waffle with bacon and my partner had a bacon & egg roll. Very tasty and the coffee was great too.

This cafe is quite small from the outside so you probably wouldn't see it unless you were looking for it, nonetheless it is well worth visiting. Me and my boyfriend both had waffles with maple syrup and bacon, and although it didn't come with an egg, were more than happy to add it on for me. The staff are very... More

Quaint little cafe. Had waffles with maple syrup and bacon. My wife had eggs benedict both dishes where done to perfection although I did find the coffee was a little bit bitter personally. Service was excellent and a lovely area for eating in.

We were looking for a place to have a breakfast and found this place on TripAdvisor. This is exactly what the comments say... we just got into the restaurant and we were received with a friendly and warm smile (which changes everything in a great service!) both of the waiters were very helpful. We had an amazing brunch... the food... More

This is a relatively new cafe in Edinburgh- opened last year. Not sure why it doesn't have its own page yet as it's very popular.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
