This small cafe is a great little find in Edinburgh. Three of us visited for breakfast and we ordered the eggs Papii which is basically eggs benedict, eggs florentine or eggs royale. They are cooked to order and are extremely good. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked with runny yolks and the homemade hollandaise sauce was delicious. The coffee also... More

This place is amazing with great food and atmosphere is really good. The prices are good especially for the food quality. The only downside I would say is that its a bit of a tight squeeze in the cafe itself. I wouldn't recommend bringing suitcases or big bags to this cafe.

We came here for brunch one morning and returned the next day as it was that good! We had eggs benedict and I also tried the bacon waffles the next day. The food is freshly cooked and delicious. The waffles in particular are amazing. I would have eaten here every day if I had found it earlier! On the last... More

Go here. Don't think twice. The eggs benedict were amazing. So was the coffee. And the service. And reasonably priced. What's not to love?

Look no further for a great place for Breakfast/Brunch, Busy artisan cafe, great friendly staff. A warm welcome from the waitress and happy to talk through the menu. The Eggs Royal x 3 was a perfect start to the day. Well worth a visit

Delicious breakfast and brunch options at Papi. Myself and three girl friends visited Edinburgh from Dublin, for a weekend and dropped in here by chance, and we were so well looked after by a delightful girl named Charlotte. At our table we had a BLT with olive bread, the eggs benedict and their famous waffles, with crispy bacon and maple... More

We went there for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Very busy place, but we were lucky to find a table. Lovely cafe, with a few tables and very good service. The food was very tasty, with locally produced ingredients. We tried several items on the menu and they were all so good. I recommend eggs benedict and the strawberry waffles.... More

We visited this lovely cafe for a tea break after lots of walking and sightseeing. It was welcoming, lovely friendly chatty staff, great choice of food and drinks. We ordered tea and cakes, which were all very good quality. Fantastic size cakes, very delicious too. We weren't rushed even though we were there towards the end of the day. I... More

This is a relatively new cafe in Edinburgh- opened last year. Not sure why it doesn't have its own page yet as it's very popular.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
