This place is very trendy, chic and delivers excellent food and food portions. The only downside was the price in which two breakfasts and two orange juices were £30!

Hi there and thank you for your review! It's great to hear that you found the food to be excellent including the size of the portion that you received! We cook everything from fresh here at Loudons (right down to our own bakery goods) and that does indeed come at a premium. The rising costs that are imposed on us... More

Excellent service, wonderfully fresh food and always enjoy the food here. The menu has a lot to offer and caters to all sorts of dietary requirements. The gluten free bread is the best I've had in Edinburgh and the Veggie breakfast is a must-have.

A large airy area with no atmosphere, we ordered a double breakfast roll and a cheese and bacon toastie. The breakfast roll was ridiculously overpriced for the wafer thin black pudding and fatty bacon that was served up. The toastie was dry, tasteless and hard to swallow as the bread was hard around the edges, this also had a pile... More

The food was delicious and didn't have to wait too long even though it was very busy,i can understand why there was a Que going out the door when the food is so good. Its... More

We went to Loudons for breakfast before a full day touring Edinburgh and we were impressed. Although it's a little way off the main tourist spots it was worth the walk up from a Princess Street. The food was delicious and I liked that you could see everything in the bakery begin freshly prepared.

I've had many breakfasts in many places, with and without a hangover. This place though, best breakfast I've had. Ever. Without question. Great food, cracking brews and great service.

Stopped off here for lunch with friends on spec and glad we did. Lots of choice for vegetarians and the quality of the food we had for lunch, including the cakes we had afterwards, was good. It was busy and the service was a bit haphazard, hence the 4 star rating. I would go back.

Description
We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes.
Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea.

We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny.

We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
