Went for a late lunch today. Small but lovely menu with a good selection of specials on the specials board. Food prepared freshly large portion and very tasty. Nice wine selection. Great coffees to finish off with. Leave space for the carrot cake. The brekkie menu looks fab to. Will be back on our next visit north

Third time of visiting with family one breakfast, one brunch and one lunch. As a cafe bistro, I just can't rate this place highly enough- small, family orientated cafe, the staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble, the food is excellent, and pricing very reasonable. Specials are excellent and kids portions are more than generous. Excellent value, I wish... More

I organised a private evening event here for a birthday celebration. The owners Ana and Mickael could not have been more helpful or friendly and they made it super easy to get everything together for it. The food was excellent and everyone really enjoyed what they had and very reasonably priced for the high quality of food that was served.... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch on 11th January, all staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout as has always been our experience during our previous visits here. Catering for a tricky vegetarian (me) and a definite carnivore (husband), our selections from the specials board were of outstanding quality. Beef and red wine stew served in a pastry pie was described as... More

We literally stumbled across this place and could have easily have passed it by, but the menu looked interesting the prices seemed reasonable. Physically it's more of a cafe than bistro, being somewhat plain and unpretentious. We were warmly welcomed and offered the main menu and the blackboard with daily specials. Leek & potato soup plus a ciabatta (I chose... More

So disappointed to have to write this review but being a regular I felt it justified. I've been eating here for months and on this occasion was appalled by the owners attitude. My friend and I were turned away stating no seats for us when there were clearly around 5 tables of 4 available. To put it into perspective due... More

Hello there. Ana the owner here. I can't tell you how upset I am. We work so hard at making sure that our customers get great service, great food in lovely surroundings and we do not charge the earth for it. What we get in return are regular customers who call in the morning and book tables. You came in... More

Bistro, is wee gem near work. Lovey quirky seats, owner is lovely as are the girls serving. Everything cooked fresh to order. Cullen skink is a favourite for me. I also recommend the Croque Monsieur. I think owner husband is chef also, nice family place, they also open in evening as well, although I have never been in evening I... More

One of my favourite places to eat in Edinburgh. The food is delicious, the atmosphere warm and cosy and the staff couldn't be friendlier. Would highly recommend.

Visited here again for about the eighth time and was delighted once again... Always a friendly greeting and our food was fantastic (in no small part to the chefs French heritage) and was quick, clean and a delight to visit. Cannot wait to go back.

Went to Water of Leith Cafe Bistro for lunch with several friends today. 2 courses 12.90 and 3 course for £14.50. All I can say is what a bargain. The food was probably one of the best meals we have had in a long time!!! Everyone of our party we're extremely happy and not a piece of food was left... More
