Took 3 generations of family to celebrate a birthday. Excellent service, good food and good value for money. Lots of choice, enjoyed the platter, between the 7 of us we tried 6 different main meals and not one complaint, I had the venison - good. The place was busy but service was excellent. Well worth a visit a real gem... More

We popped in for a couple of beers and veggie burgers. The beers were good, the food is decent pub grub, the service was great - very attentive indeed and the overall price was very reasonable. It's not fine dining but I would definitely return.

The restaurant is very comfortable and clean with vintage furnishings. Food was delicious but portions were ridiculous, I ordered the medium one and when I got out from there I still felt hungry. If you go there order the large one and I hope it will be fine.

This place has amazing vintage vibes going on. The food is offered at incredibly affordable prices considering the quality and location. The veggie burger came with an amazing in house pesto and the burger buns were just stunning. To top it off the actual burger was the best I've ever had. No doubt

This is a lovely place which was recommended to me by a friend. I have driven past this many times and never noticed it before which is such a shame. The service was fantastic and the food was even better. The Venison Steak was cooked to perfection and such good value. The cocktails were also lovely. Highly recommend this place.... More

Nice and relaxing place to eat the beautiful food that is served here. Had the cassoulet for lunch on a cold saturday afternoon and it was delicious. My pals went for the fish and they loved it. Decent prices in a really handy central location. Good choice of drinks too

We came here for dinner having found that it offered a tastecard discount and seeing the great reviews and it was amazing. Cool place, good atmosphere, nice staff and fab food. Even without the tastecard it would have been great value but with it was just incredible. We had a delicious beak and nice drinks and would definitely come back!

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
