Food was delicious and fairly reasonably priced considering the location. Service could have been more attentive.

Fantastic meal I had the lamb rump, asparagus pancetta. My problem was that it was so loud! Nobody realizes that the table over to the other side can hear you. Well if you didn’t talk so loud! Loved the food!!!!!!

We stopped here on a week night without reservations. We were quickly seated in the downstairs dining room. The staff was excellent and the food was wonderful. So glad we tried this restaurant on our first trip to Edinburgh!

We always visit when in Edinburgh. Our recent meal was the best yet. The chicken liver parfait was superb and set off to perfection by the black cherries. The rump of lamb was just delicious. Sadly no room for pudding. Lovely staff and a lively...More

We visited this restaurant on our wedding anniversary. We had a lovely intimate table! We chose the taster menu with the wine option and it did not disappoint. Well presented with lovely wines to compliment each course. Would definitely recommend.

Our favourite restaurant in the whole world. Every dish I have ever had here has been incredible. We travelled 300 miles to stay in Edinburgh just to eat here and it didn’t disappoint again.

We had a lovely quiet table downstairs with a view out onto the close and were really well looked after. Food was outstanding - chicken liver parfait and pork belly both just the right sized portion and beautifully presented. And the white Rioja to accompany...More

Booked this restaurant based on good TA reviews. I also loved the name! Glad I did as I wouldn’t have picked it out in passing. Situated on the touristy High Street & with an unassuming frontage, it’s fair to say the elegant, contemporary interior is...More

You'll walk by on the opposite side of the road, as we did, see the sign, Angels with Bagpipes and think " what the hell's that place". Don't...go in and book a table. Fantastic food, fantastic service, they really have got it right here. Yes,...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
