Awesome variety of pies. Awesome golden and tasty crust. Sitting in the center of old town of Edinburgh. Reasonable price.

My sister and I popped in here for a quick bite to eat at lunch time after reading TripAdvisor reviews. It did not disappoint! I had a the scotch pie, and the meat was so tender and so flavoursome! It literally melted in your mouth,...More

This small shop has been a delightful surprise. The pies are nice and warm, with lots of flavour and a great crispy crust. You can eat one for a quick lunch break or take two without feeling too guilty. Lovely!!!

Do not believe the terrible reviews!! I tried Greggs. It was really quite bad, but at least I tried it for comparison purposes. Piemaker on the other hand was really quite good. We liked it so much that we bought meat pies there twice while...More

I been quite a few times and the food is normally good. Today it was not. Ordered a Scottish pie which looked under cooked and greasy. Only ate a little bit and then binned it. Looked like someone else had the same idea as there...More

We stopped here for lunch. The pies were really good. Unfortunately, we only had ~£3 in cash and they were taking cash only, so the worker at the register helped us get two pies and a drink for exactly that amount. We wish we could...More

Dumb tourist tip: If you're new to Edinburgh and feel that you're standing exactly where that blue dot tells you you're supposed to be, but see NOTHING around that looks right... find some stairs and head up. You're on Cowsgate Road, and at that moment...More

Had vegetarian 'pastry' in two versions - one with feta and another with vegan filling. Both very disappointing and mostly pastry with not much filling or taste. We had hoped for so much more from the reviews.. Just chose the wrong ones I guess.

I had been recommended by many people to try the £1.20 macaroni cheese pie from The Piemaker when I visited Edinburgh and I was not disappointed. The pie was perfectly crisp and so creamy - it seemed wrong on so many levels, but so right!...More

It doesn't surprise me at all that this is the no. 1 bakery in Edinburgh. I live for their fiery cheese dogs, and the macaroni pies are excellent too. Not to mention great value for money and plenty vegan and vegetarian options.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

The Piemaker is great for a snack or quick dinner, but it’s not a sit down restaurant. We had beef and chicken pies. They consist of meat and maybe a vegetable and really good pastry dough. You can share a pie to try it out... More
