I visited with some friends from work on a Tuesday evening. We had a voucher deal so we're aware of the reduced menu choice beforehand. We all had dips and pita to start choice of 3 from 5 variety. Feta dip was the favourite. Followed with gyros and hand cut chips which again got a universal thumbs up. Value for... More

I dined her with a friend on the living social voucher. When we arrived we were told we could only order from a certain menu. This was not the case the last time we came here with the same voucher. The choice was not brilliant! We ordered the lemon chicken (tiny portion) and the trio of dips. I found the... More

The restaurant was cold, we were still eating our starters and asked did we want our mains brought out? Which we didn't so it ended up the main course wasn't very hot and some chips were not cooked right through. The food was not awful, but nothing to recommend. The staff were pleasant, and even though it was a voucher... More

We had a voucher for 2 course meal and glass of wine. Starters nothing special and mains even worse. Everything with chips. Not what we would have expected from a Greek restaurant. We will not be back.

Having bought a deal on line and then looking on this site thought I would regret going here but pleasantly surprised. Although our choice was from a limited menu we both enjoyed our starter of three dips with a basket of bread. Chicken skewers were good with side salad and chips. Girl who served us was very friendly. Toilets were... More

We were recommended to this restaurant and decided to dine there when a Living Social deal became availabe. It was a starter/main with a free glass of wine. To be fair the food was ok but nothing special. The main was some grilled chicken pieces, a few chips, salad and pita bread. It did not appear very "greek" to us.... More

My fiancé and I booked a table here for an evening meal. We both fancied something a bit different and were so glad we did. The food was fresh and tasty yet really simple but totally authentic. It was so lovely to see a menu that didn't try too hard. It felt like being on a Greek holiday! The staff... More

To be fair we were on a special offer so the menu was limited. Given that we could have been in a chip shop. We had to remind the waitress after 40 minutes that we hadn't had any drinks. Won't be back.

I can barely put into words how bad the food was. We ordered takeaway and were incredibly disappointed. The chicken souvlaki looked and tasted like it had been steamed rather than grilled (there weren't even holes from a skewer). It had absolutely no flavour. The meal was supposed to come with a side green salad, which they didn't give us.... More

I enjoyed it here last time but it was pretty awful this time round. Had pork souvaki some of the meat was overcooked other bits were OK. The salad had changed colour and was definitely not fresh. The chips were soggy. I really enjoyed their dessert platter last time which costs £12. This time round it was half the size-... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
