A place that you will need to queue no matter when you go and that tells you how successful it is! However, it takes few minutes to get your roll. Go for Grunter ( the biggest size) otherwise you will regret it was not enough, They only have pulled pork.Yes you can chose the type of bread, add onion and... More

Amazing hog roast bun, especially their apple sauce. Situated at Grass Market, one of the most beautiful streets in Edinburgh.

Before visiting Scotland we were told to eat at Oink. Having bad experiences with suggested places in the past we had our reservations, but after trying Oink once we were sold. The food is incredible! Go early and often because this place is that good.

Simple, delicious food done quickly! This is a no-frills joint, but they serve great food and is definitely worth a visit. It's affordable for a quick bite on the go, but you can also sit and enjoy your food. Just keep in mind the place is small so seating is pretty limited.

Spur of the moment stop that I'm so glad we made! My husband got the sandwich with haggis, pork, and applesauce. Weird combo, imo. But, we hadn't had haggis yet. So, we figured take the opportunity to at least try it in that capacity. It tasted good. But, we much preferred my sandwich. Pork with sage stuffing and no sauce.... More

Definitely not the vegetarian option, but as a dedicated carnivore, a must go: the Grunter with Haggis en BBQ sauce is juicy and filling, without being too much.

Quick service, a hotspot for a very tasty, cheap and truly unique kind of sandwich in Edinburgh, perfectly located at the end of the Royal Mile and near Grassmarket. First class Scottish fast food.

Thank Curiosity G

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
