We walked by and saw the fish and chips on the patio and decided to come back the next day. It wasn't busy but service was slow and disorganized. The fish and chips were decent (not on menu, but they'll tell you about them), everything...More

We stopped here as the interior was cosy, for our first wedding anniversary. However, the water was warmer than the food... The food arrived within minutes of ordering and seemed to have been cooked in the microwave, despite being assured it was cooked from fresh....More

Waiting staff with poor knowledge of the Specials on the menu, warm water ( & unpleasant wine) served, pudding menu with no prices and only one Ladies toilet cubicle for the whole restaurant - I won't be returning!

I've been to Maxie's before and really loved the food. We booked to go back last weekend a few weeks in advance. We were a little disappointed to be seated a table with other people, if I'd know this I probably wouldn't have booked. The...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
