Firstly Thank you to my Fiancé for ticking one of my Bucket List Boxes by taking me to the Balmoral for Champagne Afternoon Tea for my Birthday . From start to finish the whole experience was simply perfect. Along with the Staff and the Hotel itself, the Palm Court Restaurant was Beautifully presented and had a lovely touch with the... More

Booked an afternoon tea as a treat. On arrival were seated promptly, the service the rest of the afternoon was pleasant and understated, never felt rushed or like we were a bother. All of the food met our expectations, the amuse bouche was delicious. The sandwiches and cakes were equally good, found them both filling and satisfying. Didn't need dinner... More

Had afternoon tea at the Palm court for my mums 50th. We have been to many places for afternoon tea, and this was by far one of the best places we have been to. The service and food were amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone and cannot wait to go back

Really unique place for exclusive traditional afternoon tea. Elegant top notch place. Great sandwiches and cakes and absolutely fabulous scones. Service is very attentive, but a little bit pressing (finally, who likes to be asked every 5 minutes if finished and ready for next course...). Apart of it, highly recommended memorable place in Edinburgh.

Afternoon tea at the balmoral is a delight. The ambience harp music and of course the high tea were a delight! It was a birthday treat from my daughter. The staff were courteous and friendly especially Barnabus who looked after us extremely well. Would I go again yes do I recommend yes.

Decadent and fabulous. Great selection of savouries and pastries - they didn't even flinch when asked for a "doggy bag" to take some home. Service great.

Although not a restaurant meal, had to click this option as there is not one for afternoon tea. Maybe there should be as there is one for snacks !! Tea is served in the Palm Court and the ambience and decor reminded me of the afternoon tea we had at the Ritz in the mid eighties. Nice touch is the... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
