Our first day in the gorgeous city of a Edinburgh after a long flight, transfer from Heathrow and drive to our rental apartment had left us tired and a bit disoriented. Luckily our hostess had left some recommendations for nearby good food and a short...More

Two out of four appetizers and entrees were very disappointing. Wine list was over priced, the quality did not match the prices. Relative to other restaurants in town, they do not seem confident in their food and wine offerings.

First time I've had lunch at The Magnum and will definitely go back. My friend had lunched there before and knew the Cullen skink was great so she chose that - I had the battered hallumi with chilli dipping sauce - it was amazing. We...More

Being a bit of a foodie I'm rather fussy about what I eat as I like the delicacy of flavours to enhance others....I don't just 'trough' my food. The ability of this chef to blend various ingredients, herbs and spices is truly excellent and clearly...More

Nice service and cosy feel. Highly recommended to try their early lunch/dinner menu. Value for money!

Amazing food, great venue, superb Scottish staff: the guy has beautiful blue eyes. In fact the woman was gorgeous also. Cannot fault anything except the fish skin needed seasoning better and the dill and orange jelly was absent. Overall, we loved it.

The Magnum looks like an ordinary pub from the outside, but the food and service is extraordinary. The menu is very creative. We started with the calamari and the Haggis egg roll. We sampled the mains each ordered. The rib-eye steak was first rate. The...More

Visited on a friends recommendation and was not disappointed. More of a gastropub and more suited for eating rather than a place to have a few beers. The service was prompt and efficient and we found it to be reasonably priced for Edinburgh. Extensive lunch...More

Lovely restaurant with lovely staff and a great location. The food was amazing and a good choice of wine and drinks. There was no rush to finish and very reasonably priced. I would recommend everyone to try it.

Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to
malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton
have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a
mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village
found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything
but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street;
even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and
art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The

Description
For great food and wine and an old-fashioned good time, you can't go wrong with this delightful and traditional restaurant in Albany Street, Edinburgh. As you enter the dark, seductive dining room – filled with candles and tall palms – it will be a case of love at first sight and we guarantee you'll want to curl up in a corner and stay forever. The cosmopolitan crowd love the cosy, comfortable vibe, and we love the walls decorated with whisky-inspired poetry from a local writer. Signature dishes at The Magnum Restaurant include the rib-eye steak served with pink fir fries; the venison burger with chips cooked in delicious, salty beef dripping; and the tempura Peterhead haddock with lemon tartare and a green pea puree.
