I really like this bar / restaurant. We all had fish and chips and beer. Everything was tasty and the server was very nice. We are an easy table because we were on vacation having a relaxed time. It is a bit pricey for the area, but it was worth dining in this cool pub. I recommend it!! Perfect if... More

Stopped in for lunch and we plan to go back another night for dinner. This is in a great location and we like the feel of the pub. Make sure you stop by if you are going by and check out this history behind the pub including the church and burial grounds.

We went here as we love the story of grey friars bobby, the pub itself is right next to the greyfriars graveyard. Me and my daughter decided to order a pie each, I got beef, ale and mushroom, which was very nice. My daughter got the chick n and chorizo pie, she didn't like hers. A little bit rich for... More

We visited this bar during a long weekend trip to Edinburgh. Having been before we found it again to be relaxing, comfortable with good beer and very friendly staff.

After another long wander around Excellent Edinburgh we found ourselves in need of emergency refreshments. From the outside it looks like a 'drinky' pub. Inside lovely dining pub. Great service, lovely choice for adults and children, quality food. Wee bit pricey and a slight wait for drinks. Overall great.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
