We went for a special Sunday night Dinner celebration at Cringletie House and we all agreed it was excellent. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the Macguire Room overlooking the gardens before being escorted to the Sutherland Restaurant with it's stunning painted ceiling. The surrounding are lovely, the staff welcoming and attentive but everything was overshadowed by the amazing standard... More

We booked a few days in advance fo a Sunday evening meal at the Sutherland. We were not staying at the hotel. The food was excellent, a really nice menu, very well cooked and presented and at a very reasonable price. Great value for money - fine dining at 'normal' prices. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit. A few minor suggestions... More

Had a couple of dinners and breakfasts in the Sutherland as part of a stay in the Hotel. As my title says, words cannot really describe just how fantastic this place is. Menu's are creative, food delicious, presented well and taste just wonderful. The staff are excellent and make you feel so at home - if only all hotels had... More

What a beatiful setting on an Autumn day. Arrived for the Itison deal, and from start to finish could not fault the service, menu or food. Lovely welcome, and our table was all ready for us...... Good choice of starters, mains and desert. I had the red pepper and tomato soup which was pipping hot, and came with warm bread... More

We visited today 9th October. We arrived early, not a problem, even though I was told on booking, all booked up we were shown to our table and a drinks order promptly taken. Soup and Bruschetta starter, presented nicely both tasty and hot. We both had the Roast Beef and trimmings, all home made and the beef was delicious. Sticky... More

Lovely old hotel, steeped in history. Staff really attentive and polite. Previously had Sunday lunches and Afternoon tea here, never been let down. Highly recommended. Fabulous views over Peebles countryside and only about a mile from Peebles town. Lovely!

The headline really says it all. Cringletie house is a lovely old castle just 20 minutes south of Edinburgh and 5 minutes north of the burgh of Peebles. We enjoyed the tasting dinner which consisted of an amuse bouche with three small dishes, all elegantly presented and interesting, a roulade of chichen and goat cheese which was rather garden variety,... The strikingly grand restaurant features a magnificent fireplace and hand painted ceiling under which 3 AA Rosette French inspired cuisine with a modern twist is served.

A variety of menus are available: the daily changing Temptation menu, the A la carte Indulgence and our Grand Experience, which is a wonderful gourmet tasting menu. Menus change with the seasons, using the finest local produce. We grow many ingredients in our own Victorian Walled Garden such as fruits, a large variety of herbs and carefully selected vegetables.

On Sundays, this favourite Peebles restaurant is also open for our popular, traditional Sunday Lunch and we serve Afternoon Teas every day between 3 and 5pm.
