Unpretentious cafe, surrounded by books and lovely rugs (what's not to like) and the haddock chowder was worth a visit alone. Good coffee too, friendly staff, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Did I mention the haddock chowder?
Cosy combined cafe and bookshop near Hawick's Main Street. We enjoyed excellent beef chilli, pastrami and cheese bagels and espresso. Friendly efficient service. Newspapers available. Wide range of new and second-hand books you can either read in the cafe or buy.

We popped into Damascus Drum for coffee, lovely drinks and a great range of books to browse while you quaff! Also they gave a warm welcome to our dog, finding him a lovely bowl of water and couldn't have been kinder.
