Went here for lunch and it's okay, it's like an upscale pub food menu really. Staff is friendly. They don't take cards which surprised me so make sure you bring cash

Not sure why some reviews have been negative. On this occasion, the restaurant was very very busy but we were welcomed and shown to a nice large table overlooking the loch. The very friendly waiting on staff promptly took our drinks order and then followed...More

Thanks very much. I know we can't please everyone, but we do try and it's so nice when our guests tell us. Glad you had a good time.

Won't be back with my children! As soon as we arrived we got dirty looks off the owners .. as if 'no kids allowed', continued to be stared at for the whole of our meal, when my child got upset I got a screwed up...More

I'm sorry, but I have no recollection of either being unwelcoming or even of this event. We both try to make families very welcome and relaxed, as we have "been there" with young children. I'm sorry you felt this way.

The adjoining 'Swan Lake' and Park must be seen. Follow the path out of the Park and into woodland alighting eventually alongside the River Tweed behind Abbotsford House and beyond. Really lovely on a nice day.

I want to give this a higher rating but apart from the food nothing else satisfied me about this visit. For the price paid, I would expect a bit more in the way of a personable service. Perhaps not enough staff?? The surroundings have a...More

Called in here tonight without a booking and they were very accommodating. Thanks to the chef who tweeked my meal because of an intolerance. The meal was excellent for myself and my daughter. Couldn't manage a dessert as full from the meal. Lovely setting overlooking...More

Our train pulled into Tweedbank at the end of the Borders Railway and we headed for Herges restaurant. That was not difficult as the route is well-signed (you can walk straight there although you cannot see the path on google). We were offered a table...More

Herges is a superb place to watch the wildlife outside on the water. The ambience is magical, the food delightful and the staff friendly and helpful.
