This was our first visit to Hugh McCann's, but hopefully, it won't be our last. After reading the reviews, we booked the Sunday carvery for 5, to break our tour of County Down before our visitors returned to Yorkshire. We were concerned to find the carvery restaurant was upstairs, so as 3 of us are senior disabled, we were smoothly... More

The food is amazing. I haven't had a bad meal yet. I asked for steak and it was nearly closing time. When it came out it was cooked perfect. It would have melted in your mouth. Very enjoyable meal and the staff are so friendly and cant do enough for you.

Just Brilliant. We decided to go to Hugh McCanns as it was a special occasion. As soon as we sat down we were nicely greeted by a member of staff. They were friendly and informative and we ordered a drink. Our food order was promptly taken and was served shortly afterwards. We both had the steak with all the trimmings... More

We visited here as a family of 2 adults and 2 children. The carvery was beautiful. A great selection of meats and the food was piping hot and lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the setting is fabulous just overlooking newcastle promenade. Would highly recommend it.

I've had the pleasure of working in Hugh McCann's many times at weddings. The venue itself is quirky and unique, the staff amazing and from what I've tasted the food is great!

Hugh McCann’s is family business that has been on the go for almost 40 yrs, the building is around 200yrs old and has been sympathetically restored to preserve old world charm, yet with all modern comforts and fabulous design taking advantage of the stunning situation. The building nestles between the mountains and the sea. The cafe/restaurant looks onto the promenade and out to sea, the bar area and beer garden and wedding function room have views of the mourne mountains. The Bedrooms have either sea or mountain views. Ample parking for coaches is available nearby. Conference facilities include breathtaking 'breakout' areas, and fabulous opportunities for team building activities such as a walk in the hills or volunteering at a local national nature reserve.
