Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Travelled 25 miles to the Dessert Bar today for their Knickerbocker Glory. Gutted when we got there to be told they had no jelly & no fruit! There is literally a Spar shop 20 steps from here, why could they not have ran up and...got these items?? Unfortuntately it's not surprising that there were more people in Morellis and Mauds than the Dessert Bar today. I've ate in Dessert bar before and its been great but no excuse today folks, not having these items is unacceptable & unnecessary. Don't let your standards slip, there is too much competition out there.More

The consistency of visiting ballycastle is knowing the views and being by the seaside, the consistency of knowing you’ll always get good food at Morton’s and hopefully the finishing touch with a good ice cream from the dessert bar. Unfortunately this was not the case.... Why is it a place with a reputation sometimes lacks the consistency of keeping folks coming back but lacking either their ingredients or style of presentation. I would give this place another try as I have eaten there before but for whatever reason today I wish I had given it a missMore

Their standard and speciality ice creams and desserts were very good but their dairy free let them down. These days it is so easy to get decent non-dairy milk or ice cream so there is no excuse for crap non-dairy products.

You will not be disappointed! So, we bought pavlova. Really light but sticky and chewy, the perfect balance. It was topped with fresh cream and fresh fruit and a side of their famous vanilla ice cream. I made up my own Sundae as the one...I had wanted was unavailable. So I had a chocolate brownie and strawberry sundae, it was massive! I was so excited to eat it I forgot to take a picture. We also got affogato, a rich espresso with a side of ice cream, ginger nut biscuit and wafer biscuit. This was also exceptional. We have had lots of ice cream and sundaes from The dessert bar, haven’t had anything yet that we haven’t liked. Good value for money, lovely staff, a family run business for generations. We’ll be back.More

The Dessert Bar does a range of desserts, mostly linked to ice cream, but done in a creative way e.g. a cloud cone combining candy floss and ice cream or hot chocolate with an ice cream float. We tried quite a few of the options...and everyone liked what they chose. There is nowhere to sit due to COVID restrictions, but lots of seating in the park over the road.More

Cannot recommend this place enough. We ran in as we'd promised our toddler an Ice cream after the beach, she was deciding her flavours as we walked in but we soon realised it was more of an all dessert place rather than an ice cream...place, they only sell vanilla soft serve, absolutely beautiful, we came back the next day for more. They sell a variety of desserts but the soft serve ice cream is definitely to die for. Would come back to Ballycastle just for this.More

This place was recommended to us while on a day trip to the Giants Causeway area - and it did not disappoint! What an absolute find - a small gem in pretty Ballycastle. Excellent choice of dairy and non-dairy ice cream, sundaes, cakes, tea and...coffee. The staff, and especially the owner, really care. Very family-friendly.More

Lovely little place for dessert. What really impressed me was customer service by this sweet little girl not sure what her name was. We had a sundae and waffle which was delicious 🤤

Called in for a bottle of water and stayed for coffees. This seems primarily to be an Ice-cream place, which has plenty of seating inside, and one table outside. Order and pay at the till and your order is brought to your table. Seemed very...busy with both locals and tourists alike. The coffee was excellent! Nice quirky place with very helpful and friendly staff. Nice also to see a suggestion box on the wall. Would definitely go back if in Ballycastle again.More
