Was walking around City Center and wanted a bite and a pint. Had an excellent steak sandwich on a ciabatta roll. It was served on a plate that was a thing slab of slate. The service was excellent. I didn't catch the one server's name, but it was her first day. She was so very friendly and just a fun... More

Went into have lunch with my girlfriend, decided to have the carvery. We were both really disappointed, everything was so dried-up. The pie was burnt and really flat, the stewing steak was a total mush, the only thing I could say was ok was the small chicken drumsticks. The ham was also very dry and hard. All in all a... More

My husband, son and myself go into Belfast on a Sunday for a meal and have tried lots of great restaurants/pubs. On Sunday 14th May we decided to try The Morning Star. On arrival we were shown to our table and a drinks order taken. All going well so far. However the wait for the food was far too long... More

We stumbled across this little pub whilst exploring the city on day one of a short stay. We were in Belfast for a Three-day visit and ended up returning on our last day as we could not find a better place! As a vegetarian, I was pleased to see a great choice of food, and my husband had the buffet... More

After searching the city all evening for a place to eat (most places had closed down their kitchens), The Morning Star took us in, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. The waiters were great (and very cute, might I add), and they served the best Leek and Potato soup on my whole trip! I can't remember which... More

Description
The Morning Star dates back to 1810 as a public house, but the building was here well before that! The entries were, and still are, the heartbeat of old Belfast.

Located in an old romantic entry running between Ann Street + High Street, in the heart of Belfast City Centre. The Morning Star is easily identified by the superb Victorian sign hanging from a grandly exuberant iron bracket jutting out from the corner of the bar, one of the finest examples of its type around.

We source all our beef, chicken, lamb and pork locally and most off our family farm. We serve award winning food in our restaurant and bar Monday to Sunday, with a focus on simplicity and promoting local produce.

Our bars stock the best in spirits and we pride ourselves on our vast whiskey range. We also have local and international craft beers on tap along with the likes of the black stuff (guinness).
