After a long wet day walking in the Brecon area we were looking forward to a home cooked meal and a few drinks in a county pub. We were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly; the beer and cider was superb and the food was fantastic. The local faggots were very tasty and the Thai fish cakes were outstanding.... More

We had dinner on Thursday night. It was a verry cosy room with real fire. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food delicious. The pub is very close to the Brecon Canal and nearby are steps down to the tow path from where you can have a lovely walk. They are only open Thursday to Sunday from November to... More

Walking along the canal we spotted the pub and popped in for a couple of halves! Friendly service and we were able to sit in the garden by the canal enjoying the autumn sun. We decided to return that evening for a meal. Chose Chicken curry and butter bean and cauliflower curry. Both were enjoyable. Service was friendly and efficient... More

Tasty home cooked food. A lovely warm atmosphere. The woodburner was fantastic on a cold day. Good beer. I'd definitely visit again.

This is the fifth year I've camped opposite and as usual the food here is excellent. The service is very friendly and helpful and the Rev. James? beer is too good.

Popped in as moored alongside intending just a pint but was tempted by the menu and by not having to cook so I had the faggots and milady a curry. Both excellent and we had gorgeous puddings to follow.

Very nice little pub placed in the perfect spot for a lunchtime break during our 6.5 mile walk along the towpath of the canal. Great ploughmans for lunch.

Not sure if it was the Chefs day off but they had a limited lunchtime menu. The wife's Chicken Caesar was OK apparently but I had the cold beef salad which turned out to be two small slices of beef with a side salad which was disappointing. One pickled onion, a dessert spoon each of coleslaw and potato salad and... More

picture postcard canalside pub in Pencelli which is about 2 miles from Brecon serving really good inspiring food using fresh local produce. We have eaten there several times and the food has always been excellent.
