Food is great after a long spell closed after a fire. Small seating area so people waited for tables. Food is good value and a lot of choice. Not too hot but not like stew.

This restaurant has just reopened after being closed for two years due to a fire upstairs. The seating layout is a little odd and that does slightly affect the atmosphere, but you won't find better Indian restaurant food in Monmouthshire! Good service, good value, some unusual menu items. Worth a try. Only open in the evenings and you ought to... More

Great food, great service, great atmosphere and good value. The sundarbon was always a favourite with us, both takeaways and visiting. Now reopened there is more space, with an up stairs and great atmoshere. The food is excellent with a wide selection to suit every taste, from mild to hot, veg to meat/fish. Good selection of beers and wines. This... More

Delicious curry, not greasy or stodgy like some we have tried. Friendly staff, comfortable surroundings, reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Thursday 02 February. Once we knew it had reopened - had to go. Sat upstairs, and had a meal and a drink. Food as always, great, service excellent and the Cobra went down a treat. Sat in comfort and had a good old natter while dining. Spoke with Ali a couple of times and it's hard to believe that it's... More

Visited recently with my wife and another couple and so glad the Sundarbon is open again for business - it is certainly the best Indian restaurant for miles and believe me tried a few when it was closed following the fire. Great to see that Ali is once again the captain of the ship and that the chef is the... More

It was our first visit since the fire destroyed the building. The place is bigger now with the upstairs seating area. Ali was there to greet us and the place was very busy but I must say the meals were wonderful; what you expect from the Sundarbon, quality food.

Really missed the best Indian Restaurant in Abergavenny, the food is as good as ever. The menu seems longer than ever so just took the easy option and ordered the special set meal. Couldn't fault a thing (except my embarrassment when my wife asked to take the leftovers home).

The Sundarbon has been closed for some time now due to a fire and my god we missed it. As soon as we knew it had reopened we took family down for a Birthday treat and weren't disappointed. My only grizzle was when I asked if they still did lime pickle with the poppadoms and chutneys I was told they... More
