We visited here for a meal whilst staying at the hospital neonatal unit in Nevil Hall. I ordered sirloin steak and my wife half chicken and ribs. Both meals were tasty with steak cooked medium exactly as ordered. Table service was excellent as we weren't rushed but also never waited too long for anything. 100% recommend and hope to visit... A Brains pub with a decent menu. The 'cheap and cheerful' food (Surf & Turf and a kids Tagliatelle was good quality but let down by the fact that someone tried padding the Tartare sauce out with Horseradish. Food aside though the service was interminably slow - we waited 45 minutes in total for food to arrive and the place... More

Came for my husbands 40th. Staff were lovely. Food was good. My sister in law had to send her lamb shank back but they brought her a fresh one that was fine. Lovely atmosphere and very accommodating

Food was quite tasty but had quite a long wait. It would have been a far nicer experience had we been served by more welcoming and friendly staff. Otherwise a good pub with excellent views

Stopped off here on way home after a night away- food was lovely- really hot and fresh, puddings equally as yummy. Good service and friendly staff. I had the tagine and profiteroles, dad had steak pie and apple pie- we both had clean plates!

We ate an evening meal here on a one night stay over in Abergavenny. I wish we lived closer! An excellent meal, perfectly cooked steak, and perfect wild boar burger, apple crumble and profiteroles, served by excellent waitress (sorry I can't remember your name). Could not fault anything.

This was on our list to visit, very impressive from the outside, but we had our dog with us, the lady behind the bar was most unpleasant, in her explanation that we could only sit outside, which we fully understood, but the way she said it made us make a hasty retreat. Real pity that staff can dictate a place.
