Was hoping that this visit would be better than the last but it really wasn't. The food was tepid and the service terrible (the staff were plain rude). On the plus side the beer was good and the location is unique.

I visited this initially many years ago, so had to come back while in Salisbury again, this time to eat. I absolutely love this pub, its crammed to the rafters with history, character and stories. The beer is well kept and the food was out...More

We had a light lunch here, hubby had the breads with oils, delicious flavour and a nice selection too. I had scampi with skinny fries. Proper wholetail scampi, fast service and hot food. I even recommended it to a couple outside as I left. Quaint...More

I visited for lunch on a fairly busy Monday with my boyfriend and we weren't disappointed. We both opted for the duck liver pate followed by venison sausages from the lunch deal menu. The sausages were delicious and the accompanying mash was smooth and creamy,...More

Proper olde pub with decent hearty meals and gluten free options. Lots of them. We had pigs cheeks, pigeon, venison steak and venison burger. Delicious. Pub is a really old creaky building, lots of little and big rooms (eat upstairs) with uneven floor boards and...More

One of the city's most historic pub, and listed on CAMRA's National Inventory as one of the most historic interiors in the UK, The Haunch is packed with history, reputedly haunted by the ghost of the cheating card player, whose mummified hand is displayed in the upper 'House of Lords' Bar, with the snug 'Horsebox' allegedly the meeting place of Churchill and Eisenhower whilst planning the D-Day landings! With a spacious first floor restaurant, and a recent ownership change, The Merchant's House dining room on the first floor (entrance through pub) features a contemporary British menu specializing in local ingredients which include our famous venison casserole, superb selection of local meats and fish. Complemented with a specialist whiskey list, fine wine list and local hand - pulled real ales, as well as very friendly service, The Haunch is a definite 'must see' on your visit to Salisbury!
