This place has so much potential, lovely location and cosy inside. It's such a shame that customers are treated poorly. I've been here a few times now and every time has been the same. Waiting at the bar, whilst the locals push in and get served first. On two occasions, the locals have shouted over my shoulder to get served.... More

Visited a couple of times, off the beaten track and adjacent to the Norman church. Traditional food at reasonable prices (various special offers)& choice of cask ales. A lovely quiet corner away from the bustle of traffic. (very civilised!). Well supported by the locals. I hope this little gem can survive the onslaught the likes of Weatherspoon's etc.? It has... My friends and I had a great time in pleasant company. The service was prompt and courteous, whilst the beer was served at the correct temperature. We have been to several music events here, both inside and also outside in the beer garden. Try it, you will like it

Cheap and cheerful! You get what you pay for. Friendly staff. Strong group of regulars. Beautiful garden to sit in during summer.

Like an old pair of slippers. In a fast changing world there's always the stone, and that's the way I like it! Good beer and food. Better in the summer when the gardens open.

It relies on its location and history. It is OK if all you do is drink, but dont expect a lot by way of good atmosphere. A lot of foul mouthed patrons will soon remind you, you live in modern Britain. If you want nicer conversation, actually (and bizarrely enough) - go into the bar not lounge. Still. Its a... More

If I'm reviewing this as a local pub, the rating is very good. It's a little piece of history in the nicer part of Northfield next to St Laurence church, and it certainly has an olde worlde charm with pleasant bar staff, but in terms of the food I would have to say it is average pub grub. There is... More

Visited with family for a Sunday meal. It is a nice little pub, nothing out of the ordinary. There was a good atmosphere with live music (guy with guitar). The food was quite average. Prices were very fair.
