Delicious food all served hot and fresh. We shared the mixed grill and came with plenty of salas and freshly baked bread. We were given complimentary starter- falafel which was crunchy and tasty. We were also given complimentary dessert which was a mango milk pudding and Baklava washed down with cardamom and mint tea. Lovely and refreshing. The service was attentive and friendly. Will be back

Been a few times now and now my favourite place to eat in Newcastle. Food is delicious full of flavour and fresh served by very friendly and attentive staff who can’t do enough to make sure you’re alright and have everything you need, even throwing in some extra treats for you. Recommend to everyone.

Walked past many times and finally visited for tea after work one night in Newcastle. We normally go to Shawarma Fattoush or The Bake One for this type of food but so very pleased we popped into Alsham as food was truly amazing. Service very friendly and started with some free fresh, hot Falafel for starters. Mains looked great and tasted even better, generous portions of the meat and served with rice or chips and some Middle Eastern pizza which was great and nicely spicy. Lamb chops were cooked to perfection. Fab meal finished with a complimentary milk based pudding to share and some mint tea. Only two downsides (if you can call them that) is no Lamb Shawarma and the rice was a little to fragrant/aromatic for us.

Went for lunch to this restaurant. Staff were very welcoming and polite, the food was really flavoursome and they altered my meal for my dietary requirements. I have chargrilled chicken with salad salad and my partner falafel wraps with chips and salad, I tried his too and it was really tasty. Be careful parking because I parked somewhere where I thought was allowed and nearly got a ticket until one of the staff came over to my table to let me know the warden was coming. I was saved from a ticket and expensive lunch out. The cost of the meals on menu is very fair and the portion sizes were good too. Very present experience all round ! 10/10

We were delighted to realise that the Alsham restaurant, which we thought had closed due to Covid, has reopened, to larger premises in George Street, just off St James Boulevard behind Lane 7 bowling alley. It's a bit further out of Newcastle but well worth the effort of getting there. The food is still of the same, high standard. We had fatoush salad, aubergine mousaka, spicy potatoes, mixed smabousek and chicken shish taouk wrap. All were served with complementary flat bread and dips tea and baclava. We also had 2 drinks. We couldn't have eaten any more. The whole meal cost £26.30 and everything was delicious!! We will definitely be back and totally recommend that you visit this restaurant soon.

I've been meaning to try this place for a long time after it changed hands and it certainly lived up to expectations. Inside, the restaurant was clean, spacious, cosy and had lots of character. We were greeted with a warm welcome by our server, who was very kind and tentative throughout our visit. There was a great mixture and choice of kebabs, stews and grills on the menu. After much thought, we ordered a mixed chicken kebab, mixed lamb kebab and shawarma chicken kebab, all with rice. The traditional Middle Eastern flavours were just delicious. The skewered kebabs were all cooked to perfection on a charcoal fire, while the shawarma was cooked on a slow turning spit. The portions were also huge and came with lots of extras such as bread, salad and pickles, making it great value for money. In conclusion, this is a very special place that we will continue to visit time and time again going forward and I highly recommend to anyone reading this review.

Where do I start; went to heaven and came back! Hunted this place out online as a place to grab food before seeing a gig at the Utilita Arena The drinks were freshly squeezed fruit juices. Mango juice and carrot and orange made in front of you We got a lamb kofta, chicken shawarma and mixed grill. All 3 meals were superb. the flat breads were in constant supply and the sauces and veg on side delicious Will be coming back again when next in newcastle. Fresh meats and produce cooked just right Don’t change anything your perfect

Hi, this place was great and the food was amazing. We tried Mandi, mixed grill and some starters. This place has some amazing tasty food. Sister Bushra’s hospitality and the service she offer was outstanding. All in all a very good place to eat if you’re after great food which doesn’t cost too much on your pocket. Must try!

This appears to be a family run restaurant. One of these places tucked away from the main attractions that you hear about by word of mouth and have to make an effort to find. Once you get there they are always underwhelming but you just know the food is going to be something else. This was no exception. Delicious and served up at a reasonable price. Well recommended.

I was staying in Newcastle overnight and wanted something a little different to the usual pasta/ pizza/ Indian restaurant for my evening meal. Alsham was not too far from my hotel and knowing how tasty Lebanese food is, I decided to visit. I received a warm welcome and was shown to a table with a great view of the indoor fountain. I didn’t realise at the time but I gather that this restaurant has relocated fairly recently from the city centre. The food is absolutely divine! My meal was so tasty, the chicken melting in the mouth and everything cooked to perfection. I did my best to eat it all but the portion was so generous I just couldn’t manage it all. Ordered a meze to pick at while we watched the boxing. Absolutely delicious authentic Lebanese food, so tasty! The spicy potatoes were on point, the hummus shawarma chicken so moreish, kibbeh shameyieh crisp on the outside while soft and succulent on the inside. Stuffed vine leaves were good too. It was perfect, nicest take away food we’ve had for a while. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

We have been regularly checking to see if the Alsham is open, as we get no answer by telephone or info online. However, the windows are whitewashed over, and the Alsham sign has been removed. This was an excellent restaurant, and it is a great shame if it is really going to close completely, or even turn into just a takeaway.

Down in Newcastle for a few days and fancied something different and so ended up here. Freshest Orange and Mango juice you will find, delicious. Salad and kibbeh for a starter an a chicken and lamb biriyani for mains. All flavoursome and more than enough for hungry souls. Cannot loose here give it a go.

Staying in Newcastle, saw this restaurant near to hotel. Fancied trying Lebanese style food, we weren't disappointed. Had the mixed grill, very large plates and very tasty. The young lady serving us was very attentive and pleasant. Would recommend this restaurant.
