Went here on a Friday night expecting a really good curry from all the good reviews here but it's one of the worst we've had in Newcastle. We ordered chapatis, garlic naan, and for mains we normally split a load of starters between us- stuffed aubergine- was just a thin skin of about half an aubergine stuffed with cabbage, no... More

Found this lovely restaurant tucked away at the back of Gosforth High Street. Can honestly say it was the best Indian meal we have ever tasted and we have been to lots! We hadn't booked but they managed to squeeze us in - surprising as it's obviously a popular restaurant.

We go here a lot. In the back on a Friday night with another group adjacent to us at a large table and one inebriated woman laughing hysterically and some other bloke's jokes recorded at 104 decibels. Not a place for a quiet night out in Gosforth, which is a pity as this is a regular spot for many.

This little gem is tucked away off Gosforth high street, but when you come out of the local pub just follow your nose which should lead you to this Bangladesh restaurant. Decor is nice with the staff who are friendly and helpful and will advise and guide your choices if so required unpretentious and efficient best describes the service. Take... More

Visited on a Saturday. Love this place normally and to be fair food was great. Noise in restaurant unbearable and service dreadful. Waited 1.5 hours for main course Couldn't wait to leave. Suggest take away service instead on a Saturday night

The Ahad, just off Gosforth High Street, is a well-run restaurant that's been here for some years. The food is really good. The chef's generous use of spices sets it aside from some other Indian restaurants and that means much better tastes. the ambience is rather nice and the restaurant is beautifully clean. The Ahad, is, however, rather more expensive... More

It is obvious from the meals we had that it is all pre cooked. My friend and I both had Bhuna dishes and my husband had a chicken madras all our sauces looked the same exactly the same colour and texture. No onions or tomatoes in the Bhuna dishes. We shall not be returning and it's a shame as it... More

Myself and my partner visited this restaurant on Saturday night. This was a last minute decision and we did not arrive until 11 pm approx. The staff were very friendly and welcoming which was always a concern when we turned up so late at night. The waiter advised me on a particular dish and suggested that they could make it... More

We had friends staying from South Africa and wanted to treat them to an Indian meal. The food at Ahad was good but the customer service was appalling. It was a busy Saturday night and we were happy to wait for our table despite having booked well in advance. The waitress was clearly not happy that we were standing in... More

Normally we have always eaten in this restaurant but as hubby was tired decided to collect. I ordered a mushroom on purée starter which was delicious hubby decided to have cauliflower Bhaji side instead with his main which was Bhuna chicken, I had Shahe Tukra. Neither foils were more than half full and my lamb was tough and not it's... More
