Had the game platter to share as a starter and it was excellent (all of it) and then went for the pork belly that to be honest it was just ok, after such a good starter my expectations were higher

This little place is an absolute gem, on arrival my partner and I were shown to our table by a very pleasant and cheerful waitress who as it turned out was working all tables by herself, including the bar and delivery of food, the atmosphere is nice and warm so is the decor, the menu was a delight, I opted... We went here as it is local and were stunned at how good the food was, as good or better than anything in town.

Popped out for Sunday lunch to this Bistro, which had a rave review from some writer reviewing places for restaurant week. Happy days, it must be a Jeanine hidden treasure. Sundays only consist of serving Sunday dinner, which was fine as it is one of my most favourite things to eat, EVER. We opted for starters (fish cakes and venison... More

Stumbled over this restaurant on our travels, and we were not disappointed. Our waiter was lovely and so knowledgeable, and the food fresh and flavoursome - a hidden gem!

We normally don't go out for Sunday lunch as our opinion is our home made version is usually better than what you get served at a pub or restaurant. Unfortunately, bistro forty6 proved our theory. We decided to try Bistro forty six after reading the glowing review on Scran on the Tyne. I was super excited to have aSunday dinner... More

I was introduced to this restaurant by local friends, who love it. I myself found it very very nice indeed. The food was excellent, the ingredients were fresh and cooked with great care, and there was a good selection of wines. The service is impeccable, nice and friendly. I ended up going to this restaurant twice in a week.

I've had two wonderful meals at Bistro 46 in the last couple of weeks and only have good things to say about both occasions. The restaurant has a laid-back, unpretentious atmosphere with friendly, attentive staff who were knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the food and drink they were serving. The menu is geared towards seasonal and local produce and I... More

Been there tonight and very impressed with quality of the food. Everything was delicious, reasonable price for the quantity which was quite good. The waiter was very nice, customer focus and very helpful. Very pleased with everything I'll go back there.

Have come to the bistro many times for the steak night deal, which is great for students and non students! Restaurant is suitable for couples and friends but not large groups due to its size. The sides of mushrooms and peas and pancetta are some of the best I've ever had. In the summer you can sit outside on the... More
