Randomly popped in here for a pint and ended up ordering dinner... Really pleasantly surprised! Ordered a steak pie and it was one of the best pub meals I've had for a long time.

The best manager and staff. We have breakfast which has never failed, well done to the chef and kitchen, a generally thankless task but so appreciated getting amazing food, usually the salmon and eggs, scrambled or poached. And need I say, :), wine and beer is always moreish. :).

We went on a Wednesday for a quick supper before seeing a comedy show in the room at the back. A very nice traditional pub, the drinks and food are ordered at the bar. The service was quick and friendly while the food was traditional pub grub. I had the fish and chips while F. had the steak and kidney... More

Randomly chose this pub for lunch. Relaxed atmosphere, nice "olde worlde" architecture with wood floors, original beams and low ceilings. Unobtrusive music in the background, easy to chat. We had sandwiches which were on decent bread and nicely served. Other choices included pub staples such as fish and chips or ale sausages. Friendly service, (hello to the Handsome Young Man)... Great high street pub, always a stop off point when we are in Guildford. Excellent choice of larger and real ales, don't often see Oranjeboom on tap 🍻🍻

Had a lovely lunch here after an afternoon of shopping. Such a comfy and quirky pub, loved the layout and all the decor. Great service from all and terrific food. We weren't left waiting for too long either. Very impressed with the vegetarian options as well.

Long-established multi-levelled old pub just off the foot of the High Street. Bigger than it looks with plenty of comfortable areas, although furniture is standard pub-style dark wood in a variety of shapes, sizes and configurations. Food is kind of an adjunct to normal pub business, and the menu is pretty limited although augmented by some specials which are blackboarded... More

Great bar/pub with great outside seating too a place I would visit again.. A pint of San Miguel and a double vodka and coke £11.00 I thought was a little bit expensive but a lovely place and seating up on a balcony or down stairs in the yard

We've been entertaining the people of Guildford for more than 400 years and we're proud to say that we're the area’s longest-running live music venue, showcasing some excellent acts including The Stranglers, who performed their first ever gig here!

Close to the vibrant shopping district, river and Guildford Castle, our 16th century pub is split over three levels and has been refurbished to the highest standards while maintaining many historic features.

With a real fire, an intimate courtyard garden and a host of snug and cosy corners, it is a great place to relax, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy traditional pub food and distinctive cask ales.

We even reputedly have our own ghost – a man in uniform who sometimes chats to guests!
