We booked in for dinner after racing at Newmarket and although we didn't find too many winners on the course, we definitely found one here! Excellent, well run restaurant. Pre- dinner drinks area (to peruse the extensive menu) before having an excellent meal - i.e. well presented perfectly cooked, decent sized steaks accompanied by a bottle of wine from a... More

Manfred oversees a wonderful staff that makes, with the food, a very pleasant and value for money hotel restaurant.

We had a 3 course meal here a earlier in the month as part of a tour. The food was very good, i had the burger as a main which was tasty, my wife had the souffle which was average. We were not given or offered bread so had to ask the waitress for some, after a while it arrived... More

Here for a business meeting and evening meal. Bar area is fine, light and comfortable. Slow to offer us our menus and no inclination to take an order, eventually taken to our table and then again no enquiry if we were ready to order. Layout of the restaurant is very dark in the lower part and we moved and then... More

Very friendly and helpful staff, When I was talking to one of the waitress she told me about the staff tasting the food which is always helpful when they are advising you. Menu was fine but I understand it is only changed on a Wednesday. I would prefer different menu each night

This is a very short review as we were staying in the hotel but ate in their restaurant called Squires. Please see my hotel review for full rundown of what we think of the hotel and restaurant in much more detail. I wanted to single out the food which we absolutely loved. The tables in the restaurant were way too... More

There have been some reviews by some clearly confused people over how this restaurant works. Giving this restaurant anything less than a 4-5 rating is insanity. The restaurant serves fantasic food that compares with many fine dining experiences. I have sat in many Michelin starred restaurants in London (where I work) and this is in keeping with that type of... More

We had lunch here last week and it was very disappointing. On a positive note: the service was excellent. The staff are attentive and it's service with a smile. But the food is mediocre quality and poor value. The salmon caesar salad was all claggy dressing and soggy salmon. The tuna cheddar melt was tasteless. The coffee was okay -... More

used to be the best place to eat in Newmarket, not any more :( expensive and food quality poor, charge service charge for you going to bar and ordering drinks and food yourself

Stayed at the hotel and had the inclusive dinner. Was OK Nothing special tbh. The food looked nicer than it tasted... Style over substance in my opinion. Service charges automatic on bill... I like to tip for good service but it should be at my discretion!

Description
Squires Restaurant at Bedford Lodge Hotel has undergone a stunning refurbishment and menu overhaul. The walls are adorned with carefully selected pieces of art mostly conducive of still life which bring the artistic decor into being. The vibrant colour scheme of rich raspberry and subtle lime combined with the amazing food, make for a charismatic ambience, especially during the evening when the lights are dimmed and the lanterns are glowing. This intimate restaurant is perfectly suited for long, leisurely chats over a bottle of choice Sauvignon or other pickings from the vineyards of France, Italy and the New World. The expertly selected wine list is enhanced by the eclectic menus and delectable selection of dishes. Whether it’s business or pleasure, a light lunch with friends or romantic dinner for two, Squires Restaurant is a recipe for success. Staff who aim to please, chefs who deliver and management who know how to manage... the ‘proof is in the pudding’, as they say.
