We had heard about this restaurant several times but never been, so to celebrate a birthday we popped in to try it out. It was very busy when we arrived with a tour which was ongoing, thankfully we were not on the table by the door!! We were taken to our table, not long after our order taken. One of... More

That's what we wanted and boy what a memorable visit. It is a light but not too light with 2 shining brewing vessels next to the bar and all of the other brewing equipment is on display on a mezzanine floor. The Beer was good but the fish and chips were excellent. Very crispy battered cod with next to no... More

Four of us had a great lunch here recently. The décor and ambience is good - the young team friendly and efficient. We were given a good window table and issued with menus at once. Food is not cheap but quality and presentation excellent - cod with crispy topping on wilted kale and a side or (proper) chips; roll filled... More

I was not impressed with the food at all. I ordered the salmon in a bed of creamy cabbage with bacon and cockles.... what I got was salmon in a bowl of pure cream with a few tiny pieces of cabbage. No bacon and no cockles. I could only eat the salmon (the bits I could keep out of the... More

We took my mother-in-law to the Old Cannon Brewery restaurant for dinner and were not disappointed. The food is brought out to you very quickly and is really tasty and well-presented. The staff are smiling and very helpful; their recommendations were spot on, as well. The atmosphere is homey and friendly while still being tasteful. As the restaurant is attached... More

average food but expensive prices. Sunday roast - potatoes had a cooked a few days ago and recooked again taste, veg messy looking on plate. 1 dessert cost over £8!!! A std slice of cheesecake which I asked for a single scoop of ice cream with, small scoop charged £2.50 for, outrageous. Would I go back? No.

The Cannon is a 5 minute walk from the centre of Bury St Edmunds. The food menu is good and the local beer is also. well worth a sit for a friendly pub.

Awesome eggs Benedict! It's always good and I come here on every day off to get my fix! Parking is a bit of a challenge; just get there before nine and you'll be fine.

The Old Cannon is a Brewery, Bar, Brasserie and Bed & Breakfast. Our brasserie menu (Cannon Fodder) changes with the seasons and has starters and main dishes for all tastes and appetites and, if you are still ready for more, our puddings and British cheeseboard are definitely worth saving space for. There are at least three daily changing specials. For those with a smaller appetite, many of the most popular main courses are offered as a light main too.
