I have lunch about once every three weeks at the Cannon, and, under its new Manager there is no doubt that it has improved significantly, from being just another pub to becoming something of a gastropub. I always judge places by the soup available, and...More

Last minute decision to go out to eat (and rather surprised to get in at short notice as it's usually pretty full. Imaginative menu at decent prices (c.£12 for a main). Good beer (many brewed on premises), 'posh' kebab for me - lamb kofte(?!) -...More

Limited menu, but good quality. The waiting staff, however, are invisible. Only asked if we would like a drink, the 1st one was ordered at the bar, after we had finished the main course. And that was only because we were asked about desserts. As...More

Hi, Just seen the question and a bit late answering but they do have food for a vegetarian and best checking when going on website or ring. My partner is a vegetarian and always enjoyed the food there.

The Old Cannon is a Brewery, Bar, Brasserie and Bed & Breakfast. Our brasserie menu (Cannon Fodder) changes with the seasons and has starters and main dishes for all tastes and appetites and, if you are still ready for more, our puddings and British cheeseboard are definitely worth saving space for. There are at least three daily changing specials. For those with a smaller appetite, many of the most popular main courses are offered as a light main too.
