We have been to the Stag at Hinton Charterhouse many times! We enjoy going on a Sunday and really love their roasts. You get plenty of meat (which is local) lots of veggies and the cheesy leeks are delicious! The staff are so friendly (particularly the brunette lady who is the manager I believe) and very accommodating especially where our... More

We visited the Stag Inn in Hinton Charterhouse during a short stay over in Bath whilst meeting up with some members of our extended family. The reason for our visit was for an evening meal and the venue had been recommended to us to try. The pub is fairly easy to find being about six miles from the centre of... More

Called without reservation. No problem despite most tables being reserved. Lots of people eating or waiting to have their orders taken so we thought we would have a long wait. Not so- the well cooked food was delicious and generous portions- -came promptly. Beer was well kept. The standout for us was the service and greeting on entering-excellent .

If you are not worried by the intimicy of the smaller of the two dining areas then this is a gourmands delight. The wide ranging menu gives pleanty of scope for all, including vegetarians. The portion sizes are generous, one of my fellow diners regularly choosing a starter course as a main menu .This is a pub which serves food and functions as a... I'm always impressed when a restaurant copes with a large group as well as The Stag did. We were a group of some 20 Sunday lunchers, including a number of children, which always adds complications, yet the waiting and cooking staff took it all in their confident stride. Aperitifs were served and orders taken without undue delay, and the meals... More

A very tired and old fashioned pub which is dirty. The bar stools were stained and needed throwing out. The seat I sat on had a cushion tied on which was falling apart and looked grubby with the seat its self at the back dirty with dried splashes. It was very cold as the door did not close properly and... More

...the only pub that I've ever been to where you have to ask at the bar before you can sit down anywhere! But maybe that's just a result of how popular it seems to be? We've been there a few times and the staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is good. The 'small' portions of dessert are... More

What a fantastic find. After travelling for miles we found The Stag on trip advisor. We called to check if they were still serving and they had some roasts available. We were very hungry and the food was fantastic. Really lovely roast with all the trimmings. No Aunt Bessie's in sight. Highly recommend it. The staff were very friendly and... More
